AZ-TV UP 40% IN PRIME!
Key Shows As High As 100% Over Last Year; Gap With CW & MNT Narrows

AZ-TV (KAZT, Channel 27/Cable 13) finished the May, 2007 Nielsen sweeps with impressive gains in its primetime (7-10PM) average and huge boosts in key timeslots.

In prime, AZ-TV is up 40% in household ratings over the May, 2006 sweeps….by far the largest increase of any independent or “baby net” (CW, My Network TV, ion). In fact, only CW6 and ion51 posted gains, at percentages well below AZ-TVs. KTVK lost 11% of its primetime audience compared to a year ago and My Network TV (MNT) affiliate My45 is down 38%.

Triple-digit increases (100% for According To Jim at 8 PM and 8:30 and for Cheers at 7:30 and 10PM) helped drive AZ-TV’s performance, but all timeslots in prime were up by double-digits…the lowest being a still-strong 13% increase over May, 2006 for Frasier at 9:30.

“Suns playoff games on cable, an Arizona teenager goes all the way on American Idol, and the networks pull out all the stops for stunts and advertising…and still, our ratings go up!” said Ron Bergamo, AZ-TV General Manager. “We’re obviously finding and filling a need for quality comedy programming.”

“Five years into our existence, we’re unquestionably a game-changer.” said Michael Hagerty, AZ-TV Director of Programming and Promotion. “From 8 to 10 PM, we’re less than a single ratings point behind CW and My Network TV. The gap has never been this small…and our growth curve suggests that gap is only going to get narrower.”

AZ-TV is mere months away from the addition of three enormously popular comedies, George Lopez and Reno 911!, which debut on September 10, and Chappelle’s Show, which premieres Saturday, September 15.

AZ-TV is Arizona’s only locally-owned television station, part of Londen Media Group, featuring a unique mix of locally-produced programs (The Pat McMahon Show, AM Arizona with Tonya Mock and Lew Rees, Autoshow with Michael Hagerty, Arizona Backroads with Marshall Trimble, D-Backs Playin’ Hardball, Maximum Cardinals, NHL Phoenix Coyotes Hockey and classic comedies of yesterday and today (The Andy Griffith Show, The Brady Bunch, My Wife & Kids, Married…With Children, Cheers, According To Jim and Frasier).
