ANOTHER RECORD NOVEMBER!
AZ-TV Shatters Previous Ratings Records, Leads Market In Growth
AZ-TV (KAZT, Channel 27/Cable 13) posted record household ratings in the just-concluded November, 2007 Nielsen ratings sweeps…with growth figures far outpacing the rest of the market.
In primetime (7:00-10:00 PM), AZ-TV gained 57% compared to the November, 2006 sweeps. CW affiliate KASW (Channel 61) was up 21% and ABC affiliate KNXV (channel 15) increased by 8% .
Factoring out Suns basketball, MyNetworkTV affiliate KUTP (Channel 45) was flat in primetime year-to-year, as was Ion affiliate KPPX (Channel 51).
Four stations lost primetime audience: Independent KTVK (Channel 3) was off 27%, NBC affiliate KPNX (Channel 12) was down 24%, CBS affiliate KPHO (Channel 5) lost 11% and FOX owned and operated KSAZ (Channel 10) fell 6%.
“This is blockbuster performance”, said AZ-TV General Manager Ron Bergamo. “Growing at all in this environment is an accomplishment. But to increase the rate of growth as dramatically as we have indicates that we’re connecting with more and more viewers every day.”
The arrival of George Lopez boosted AZ-TV’s 7:00 PM hour by 173% over last November, with the additional lead-in improving According To Jim at 8:00 PM by 38%. Frasier, the longest-running show in AZ-TV’s primetime lineup, grew by 57% at 9:30 PM. And the introduction of Reno 911! into the 10:00 PM hour resulted in triple-digit growth and erosion of The Simpsons’ ratings on KASW.
“Ratings and growth like this indicate that viewers aren’t just discovering the station”, said Michael Hagerty, AZ-TV’s Director of Programming and Promotion. “They’re making AZ-TV a viewing habit.”
More comedy is on the way to AZ-TV as Everybody Hates Chris makes its syndicated debut in the fall of 2009. Additionally, AZ-TV will broaden its appeal beyond comedy in the fall of 2008 with the addition of two new court shows: Judge Maria Lopez and Judge Karen.
AZ-TV is Arizona’s only locally-owned television station, part of Londen Media Group, featuring a unique mix of locally-produced programs (The Pat McMahon Show, AM Arizona with Tonya Mock and Lew Rees, Autoshow with Michael Hagerty, Arizona Backroads with Marshall Trimble), NHL Phoenix Coyotes Hockey, D-Backs Playin’ Hardball, Maximum Cardinals and classic comedies of yesterday and today (I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, The Brady Bunch, Cheers, Married…With Children, George Lopez, According To Jim, Frasier, Reno 911! and My Wife & Kids).
