AZCentral article on Pratt...life after firing

Sorry for the duplicate link. I never understood all that medical jargon so I really did not get what the good Doctor was hinting at in his topic title.

Not to worry, IHT...oftentimes Nurse Jeff and I don't even get what we post. Therein lies the danger of self-medication! We think Pratt is a great talker and what a spectacular way to launch 95~Five as the New FM KFwhyEye.

IMO, this was such a boring article! What is the point of it? "I'm a guy who got laid off; now I stay at home, take care of my kids & hang out with my friends."

WOW, what cutting-edge journalism...that's the story of about 100,000 other guys in the Valley currently! Why doesn't the Repulsive do a story on one of them instead & make them feel a little better...'cuz at least Pratt can count his money at night.

Time for newspapers to GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! There are no real journalists left!!!
When Walter Cronkite recently took his last breath, he probably thought, "Thank God!!! Finally!!! Get me out of this world where my profession has become an absolute joke!!!"

Is there a Leibo connection here? Afterall the soon to be departed PR VP, former AZ Socialist Republic columnist and talk show host is opening his own shop and will specialize in marketing. Are the Nurse and I the only ones scratching our fezes about Leibo's suggestion that KT'R should hire the Morning Mayor muy pronto? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Re-reading the article...

Overall, it thought it was good. It let people know how a former radio personality and well-known Valley citizen is doing.

Good for Dave Pratt being able to spend time with family and reflect/contemplate on his next move. As for him getting "hundreds of e-mails a day from former listeners" it's probably true, but better to say "a week" because the longer you are away, the more they forget.

But, Why did CBS Radio remove him in the first place?

Pratt is making "hefty paychecks" until 2011. We all know Tim & Willy (& Andrea & Becky Lynn) didn't come cheap. CBS didn't hire Tim & Willy because they are so flushed with cash and T&W were out of radio work and CBS felt like giving to a charity case. Was Pratt doing so bad in the ratings that CBS decided to eat those "hefty paychecks" and bring in a duo well-known to country music listeners?

We'll see what happens in 2011.

No comparison. Pratt consistently out-performed Tim and Willy over the years. He knocked them out of the rock format, and later beat them in country. In fact, he brought KMLE from way back in the pack to knock Tim and Willy off their high horse. And yes, Tim and Willy were out of work for an entire year with no offers so their price naturally dropped dramatically. Unlike Pratt, Tim and Willy were not under contract and not wanted. Tim and Willy were surely a major cost saving move for CBS Phoenix. They most likely cost about one-fifth combined of just Pratt alone, without his crew. Was it worth it? Maybe. Pratt’s salary was ridiculous, but if you buy a cheaper car you get a cheaper product. In terms of making money for their station, Pratt is a Lamborghini complete with the big ego and high maintenance! I hear he is a nice guy in general but demanding as a performer. Still, results matter and regardless of low ratings or high ratings, Pratt consistently rings the cash register. Love him or hate him, he is a money making machine. However, Tim and Willy are closer to a Toyota Corolla. Low maintenance, low cost and low performance. And if he keeps using Pratt’s stuff like KMLE Nation, etc., maybe he should change his name to Tim PRATTRICK.

I expect there are many of us who were never listeners of Pratt, or T&W. Personally, I don't see what the fuss is about for either act and the only way I'd ever listen is if they went Oldies or Classic Rock - which is as likely as a Beatles reunion.

Back when Dave Pratt was still on KUPD, I usually listened to either talk, country, or oldies. But at least once a morning, I'd punch in Pratt for a few minutes because the guy was just hilarious.
