B-101 Christmas poll is out

http://www.b101radio.com/music/xmas12/ one of the questions on the poll is Please let us know when you would like for us to start playing Christmas music this year:
Right Now
November 1st
November 15th
Thanksgiving Day
December 1st. My gut tells me 12/1. WBEB doesn't want to burn out listeners if they played Christmas music for a long period of time, if they started early. 12/1 would be a great date to start that music in my view.

Well, at least then it'll lend some credence to that survey question about when the music should start. The last 3 years it happened on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, which is not one of the choices. So if they do that again this year, it really will be on the 15th. Of course, they'd probably make the argument that the Thursday before Thanksgiving wins as the "Right Now" choice... which just happens to be when WJBR goes all-Christmas. ;)

By the way, whether it's noteworthy or not, the station that started the trend - Sunny 104.5 - did so on the Thursday before Thanksgiving 10 years ago.

If that proves to be true, expect WJBR to go all Christmas on November 15th at 2:58 pm...I used to laugh at how competitive they made the race to Christmas music. Starting around Halloween, Michael Waite used to sit with his ear to B101, 24/7...

As far as the songs included in that survey, I mostly voted for the goofy, the weird, the strange, and the awful!

As if one person from out of town can make a difference ;D

But how funny would it be for an all-Christmas format to feature the worst Christmas songs.

Heck, it might be funnier than the so-called "comedy format" now running on a few stations around the country.

Last year, B-101 started the Christmas thing at 12 Noon on Thursday, Nov. 17th, which was the Thursday before
Thanksgiving. So this year, the streak will likely continue with Thursday, Nov. 15th at 3 pm.

choices for when they should start playing the Christmas music has changed:

I noticed today WLEV 100.7 Allentown is all Christmas. Since it puts great signal into the northern suburbs (Bucks, Montgomery) I'd expect they're trying to get a foot in the door in shops, offices ahead of B101. Back in it's beautiful music days, WFMZ 100.7 played a lot of instrumental Christmas songs in their easy mix through the season & seemed to have as much a presence in the area as the Philadelphia stations.

I wonder why 97.5 does Not have Christmas music on there HD 2 Channel as I think normally by now they have started Christmas music with the Now 97.5 jingles.

97.5 hasn't played Christmas music on the hd2 since 2010 I believe

Even though most of us dom't have HD radios, most mobile apps & the websites stream HD, still wish 104.5 HD would run a Sunny 104.5 Christmas! Wow, it's been 10 years since Sunny debuted the modern version of the all-Christmas FM station exclusively in Philadelphia in 2002!

That's right. And last year, their sister station WBEN played Christmas on their HD2

how about decemember 24 and 25 like it used to be....... its ridiculousness to play xmas that long... all sheep...
B isn't going to wait that long; their Christmas format is too popular in this city.

its total overkill!!!!!!!!!!! any theories as the real reason why they shove this down people's throats for over a month during the holidays???? of course its all about revenue and ratings which is a good thing but seriously its over the top............

Well, be thankful Ben FM isn't going all-Christmas.

Because people listen. Ratings each year sky rocket for b-101.

I'm wondering if WOGL will go all x-mas this year. Now last year they actually went down in the ratings, because as mentioned b-101 takes off. However ogl didn't go down as much as the previous year when they didn't play Christmas music, and b101 didn't go up as much as the year before when they had no competition.

In otherwords ogl has no chance to compete with b101 in December, but going x-mas last season proved to be a defensive move to slow down the bleeding. I hope they go all Christmas, as I prefer their "Christmas classics" to b's Christmas currents.
