B-102.7 Terra Haute... Buzzing toward CHR

Mid West Clubber said:
I dont know about all that,,, Im usually not a Hot AC listener, but I do like B-102.7,,, Its pretty much a CHR, but I dont have to set through Offensive Rap songs like LIL Wayne Lollipop, and I can here a bit of 80s and 90s thrown in.. They play all the current CHR hits, even the NON RAP Rhythmic hits,, where most Hot ACs lean on Recurrents and Gold, B-102.7 is breaking alot of new music

And that's the problem. Hot AC stations aren't supposed to break new music. Hot AC is a format for playing proven hits, not breaking new ones. That's what CHR is for. And that's why it's so confusing to listen to that station--it's hard to figure out who or what they're trying to be. If they're trying to be Mix-FM, what good will that do? They're not going to get the listenership that Mix has, and even if they take a little from their market share, they still fall behind them in ratings. If people want to listen to that kind of music, they tune in Mix-FM. They don't go to somebody whose playing kind of the same thing. It's the same problem they've had for years. They're trying to please everybody and end up pleasing nobody.

..Just thought of something on this subject.. Remember when '96-STO' was really an Adult CHR/Hot AC during the 6:am to 7:pm hours and high flying CHR at night (7:p to 6:a)? But, then again, they only had 99.5/WKDQ to compete with for a short time and were the only game in the TV/Radio/ADI for years (during the Brill ownership years)...They were alot like that... I don't here the night time moving against 100.7, but the daytime reminds me of an effort to mirror that sales winning positioning.. Listeners don't really know what you are (AC-Hot AC-CHR or Polish/Muldavian Folk Songs)... They just know if they like you... Q-105 was that way for many top of the heap years in Tampa-St.Pete.... I do see a key is looking at the footprint of their Class "B" outlet and working from the center and then out to the feeder towns that go into Terre Haute to shop at Honey Creek Mall and nearby merchants on the south 41 strip in "Hulmanville"..... Any other thoughts?
