I doubt the new 93.1 Sacramento will simulcast. They might have the same format and they may voice track but I don't think they will simulcast. Over at the Sacramento Board, There is speculation that with the upcoming format change of KWOD-106.5 to All 90's that CC may try a Alternative Rock format at the new 93.1.kenrayc said:I wonder if the new 93.1 will simulcast or have the same format as KOSO, This will be interesting in Stockton if the new signal will cover the lose of KOSO.

IMHO It's most likely a marketing strategy decision not to say anything on air warning listeners outside of the Modesto market about the impending loss of signal. To mention less signal would only highlight a negative to their primary audience in thier home market of Modesto. While discussing the effect of the freq switch may be a courtesy to those listeners in Stockton, moving forward, CC needs to keep Modesto contented with the change. After the switch and without pointing signal dificiencies, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't start promoting thier online stream more at that time.Madmansam said:Funny thing! Even though B-93.1 has been advertising the upcoming shift to 92.9 as well as the DJ's talking about it, It is surprising that they aren't mentioning on air that listeners in such areas such as Stockton and Lodi will lose reception of the New B-92.9. You would think that at the very least, CC should mention on air that listeners in affected areas can continue to listen to them online. Some friends of mine in Stockton, don't believe me that they will soon lose its signal. They told me that if it was true, B-93.1 would have made mention of it on the radio or on its website.
The CP was granted last Dec, so clearly they've had time to build the new transmitter facility, but according to the FCC website, it suggests that they have yet to apply for a License To Cover the CP at the new class and channel, but obviously one would think that it has been approved if CC is publicizing the change.RadioStarOne said:When KWIN moved their tower closer to the 99 freeway one day the tower wasn't there and then boom it was. The old tower to the south east was gone just as fast. This new tower sight has most likely already been built and is ready to go. The 93.1 signal from Pollock Pines will cover the Stockton area with no problem
especially with the power it is going to be using.
I agree with you Hunter, Stockton will soon have the new 93.1 signal from Sacramento, but what if CC decides on a LA PRECIOSA or some other type of Spanish Format? Loyal Stockton Listeners Of KOSO will be peeved. Alternative Rock may be alright, but my friends who are loyal listeners of KOSO love the station because of their DJ's such as CRUISE & GOOD or DAVE MAZZY. As well as the midday RETRO MY POD show. And these friends won't have access to a computer at work to listen to their online stream. And I am sure there are many others who will be peeved at this change.Hunter said:The CP was granted last Dec, so clearly they've had time to build the new transmitter facility, but according to the FCC website, it suggests that they have yet to apply for a License To Cover the CP at the new class and channel, but obviously one would think that it has been approved if CC is publicizing the change.RadioStarOne said:When KWIN moved their tower closer to the 99 freeway one day the tower wasn't there and then boom it was. Regarding the new signal from Pollock Pines, Sam's post was commenting that KOSO listeners in Stockton are not being warned that they will no longer be able to pick up the station....yes they will have a new signal at 93.1, but it will not be B93 - it will likely be Alt Rock or some other format.
No doubt. Some of the others that are sad about the change are those of us who spent an important part of our career there.Madmansam said:I agree with you Hunter, Stockton will soon have the new 93.1 signal from Sacramento, but what if CC decides on a LA PRECIOSA or some other type of Spanish Format? I'm sure come Monday, their phone system will get a lot of action...and if anyone actually gets through to a human being who has to try to explain why their favorite station has gone away forever, is like confessing to your wife that you've picked up a STD.Madmansam said:Yeh, especially for the listeners in areas that will lose the signal and doesn't know it like Stockton. Wait until Monday, when some listeners tune to 92.9 and find out that their favorite station will be gone. And wait until the New Sacramento 93.1 comes on the air and disappoints Stockton Listeners with music different than the one being played there right now.

On some occasions, like this morning I was getting it clear in Madera. So, we shall see. I am curious to know about how many ticked off listeners from the old outside coverage areas are going to be calling in with their displeasure about the change. Too bad I can't tune in on Monday, because I don't start work until Tues. morning. :'(
IMO, I think Sacramento has too many radio stations and it just doesn't give Modesto/Stockton radio markets any breathing room.![]()
Thanks Daniel! I'm interested in knowing too! What I'd like to know is if CC ever tested their new transmitter for the 92.9 frequency while KOSO-93.1 was still on the air? Would there have been interference in the Modesto area operating both 92.9 and 93.1 together? If they haven't test 92.9 yet, we'll see if any bugs will occur during the actual changeover. I wonder when the actual time they will change? Midnight or when the Cruise & Good starts?DanielBoone said:I will see how far the signal stretches on Tues. morning on my way to Sac. The short spacing between 93.1 and 92.9 would definately cause interference, however the engineers are able to test and tune the new transmitter by running it into a "dummy load" instead of an actual antenna. It is possible/likely that after they tuned it using the dummy load, in the middle of the night, they could have put it on the air for final tuning, while signing off 93.1.Madmansam said:What I'd like to know is if CC ever tested their new transmitter for the 92.9 frequency while KOSO-93.1 was still on the air?
