B-93.1 to become B-92.9 on June 1

I will see how far the signal stretches on Tues. morning on my way to Sac. Currently, I can get it 93.1 from Merced to Woodland. On some occasions, like this morning I was getting it clear in Madera. So, we shall see. I am curious to know about how many ticked off listeners from the old outside coverage areas are going to be calling in with their displeasure about the change. Too bad I can't tune in on Monday, because I don't start work until Tues. morning. :'(

IMO, I think Sacramento has too many radio stations and it just doesn't give Modesto/Stockton radio markets any breathing room.
Thanks Daniel! I'm interested in knowing too! What I'd like to know is if CC ever tested their new transmitter for the 92.9 frequency while KOSO-93.1 was still on the air? Would there have been interference in the Modesto area operating both 92.9 and 93.1 together? If they haven't test 92.9 yet, we'll see if any bugs will occur during the actual changeover. I wonder when the actual time they will change? Midnight or when the Cruise & Good starts?
The short spacing between 93.1 and 92.9 would definately cause interference, however the engineers are able to test and tune the new transmitter by running it into a "dummy load" instead of an actual antenna. It is possible/likely that after they tuned it using the dummy load, in the middle of the night, they could have put it on the air for final tuning, while signing off 93.1.

(I'm posting this a second time because this board seems to be acting fickle today. My initial post, as written above, and a post written by DanielBoone alternately keep appearing and disappearing whenever I go in and out of this thread. If this ends up posting permanently a second time and seems confusing, my apologies.)

As another thought on the subject, I wonder if the Pollock Pines station will use KOSO's former "class B" transmitter with the power turned down a tad to 20KW.

BTW, just another thought. I'm a few hundred miles away so I haven't monitored the station on air the last few days, but I have been listening today on line and I'm very surprised at the lackadasical attitude of how they are communicating the change to their audience. They are running periodic bumpers and promos about the change, but they reference "...June 1st", not "....happening at midnight tonight..." or "...when you wake up tomorrow.." or "Remember to reset your digital alarm radio to 92.9 when going to bed tonight..." or even mentioning that it will be different on "Monday". Pathetic. I wonder how many people may end up sleeping in and will be late for work because their favorite station didn't communicate in a way that would drive the message home. The PD/GM clearly asleep at the switch.

Anybody going to record the change-over? I will be monitoring the 93.1 signal here in Rancho Cordova, to see if anything happens here and be recording it if it does. And again right before five in the AM.

The changeover of KOSO from 93.1 to 92.9 occured just before Midnight at exactly 11:59:07 pm. I can still pick up KOSO albeit on a weaker signal. This may change when the New Sacramento 93.1 signs on, but there is something which has happened. I can now pick up KRZZ-93.3 San Francisco. The signal is stronger than the New KOSO @ 92.9. Amazing! I am sorry, but I wasn't able to change the changeover, but it occurred in the middle of the DJ's sentence where he says that he'll be the last one to mention on the air that "You're listening to B-93.1" then it went dead suddenly.

93.1 pollock pines is on the air doing equipment tests and playing rock music no ID's yet.
Well after 5 minutes, the New KHJQ-93.1 came blasting on the air and wiped out the nearby KOSO-92.9. Now I can't hear the New B-92.9. KHJQ is playing what sounds like Alternative Rock Music, probably to fill the void left by the departed KWOD-106.5. And they are now doing Hourly Id's as "KHJQ-POLLOCK-PINES-SACRAMENTO-93.1" and now has a website up and running at http://www.931hot.com/main.html

The station Hot93.1 sure sounds nothing like the name for a rock station? The website doesn't look it either! The flip at 106.5 sure sounds like a counterprogramming move by Entercom, now doesn't it? Clear Channel missed it by that much! lol lol...
