B 96 Music

I was looking at the B 96 playlist on yes.com and it looks Rhythmic CHR not a CHR. Reason Im asking because it looked like they were going more CHR by throwing some Daughtry, Shinedown, The Fray, etc in the playlist. But it looks mostly Rhythmic CHR like sister stations Hot 93.7 Hartford, CT and Wild 98-7 Tampa, FL.

B96 actually does report as a rhythmic CHR. And yes, they have been known to take riskes over the years and play stuff like The Fray and Jason Mraz. Even though they are known as "Chicago's #1 hit music station", I think they play more rhythmic stuff than when they were branded as "Chicago's Hits and Hip Hop," which I think someone once poined out on this board. I personally cannot stand their playlist now. The thing that still confuses me is how rival WKSC gets away as a CHR/pop though.

KISS plays Britney Spears, Jordin Sparks, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and some others as where B 96 doesn't according to yes.com.

I heard them playing All American Rejects when I was up there a few weeks ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, but B96 has suffered a bit since Kiss signed on. I thought they would eventually move towards a pop direction, but B has managed to build a heritage with the rhythmic format and going pop wouldn't make the most since. However, they are more of a true rhythmic station by not trying to sound like a clone of WGCI or Power 92.3.

I perfer B96 over Kiss BIG TIME because I dont care for Clear Channel! I do would like for B96 to chose a format and keep it that way. The Hits and Hip Hop slogan sounded great...I dont think Chicago's #1 Hit Music Station does not go along with the music B96 plays...I dont know, I think about this stuff differently than most of you guys do so sorry if its bothersome. And lastly, I dont think its wise for two stations like Kiss and B to play the same flow of music in the same or similar direction. If I had to chose, Make 101.9 the Mix totally CHR and B96 the same where they are but refer to themselves as "Hits and Hip Hop"!

101.9 the mix in chicago---->104.1 KRBE in Houston
b96 in chicago--------> Hot 95.7!

Yeah I agree with you...The Mix would be taking a huge risk though if they completely abandon their Hot AC format, which would lessen the amount of oldies/recurrents they can play, which a huge part of their older demographic probably like.

Plus, Bonneville (Mix's owner, based in Salt Lake City) won't flip that or any of their stations to CHR....
