B 98.5 SOUNDING GOOD THIS WEEKEND

B98.5 is claiming that they are playing everything in their playlist from A-Z.

Funny that you don't hear this at all during the week???

It's pretty simple. After losing the election to remain #1 for the most music while you work, B98.5 needed to do something different, especially in light of its position on issues like the Iraq war and abortion. At least so far, no one working there has been accused of doing funny things in an airport men's room.

Are they playing a lot of feel-good, up tempo stuff? Better not pipe that in to bathrooms, because a lot of people will get in serious trouble if they start tapping their feet in there... ;D

It's a better relaxing, easy variety of feel good favorites to sing along to while you're at work, at home, or in the car..all goodtime weekend long in with less deejay chatter and more music that matters as we pick you up and make you feel good on the radio..everybody..in crystal clear HD stereo!

I've been listening all day and have really been enjoying it.

I would have never thought that "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred would be on their playlist ;D

Re: B 98.5

Checked the playlist...they are skipping songs in their library like Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" and a couple of Kelly Clarkson songs.

I suspect they have to skip a few since they won't preempt Delilah.

I am wondering if a change in direction to the "Snow Patrol" route or another musical direction may be forthcoming. A couple of weeks ago, they aired an imaging piece where a few artists introduced themselves (a B98.5 first). Avril Lavigne and Rob Thomas and other newer acts were heard...but no older acts.

This, theme weekends, clock changes (imaging only), and the new CHR jingles lead me to think a playlist shift is en route. A station based on research would not be rocking the boat in this fashion unless something major is afoot.

I was told by a station salesperson that groups such as Snow Patrol and The Fray were on the way. She said, "Our listeners watch shows like Grey's Anatomy and hear songs by those groups." But she told me this several months ago.

You're right! If that was the case, Senator Craig's speech last week would have sounded like this: "I am not gay. I've never been gay. I was listening to B98.5's A-Z Weekend."

wow - You were right. B 98.5 is better than ever! It certainly is Atlanta's best variety with the most music every hour on the station that picks me up and makes me feel good all thru the workday playing the best Soft Rock Hits with always 98 minutes of commercial free music starting weekday mornings at 9am. Its truly Atlanta's longest music sweep anywhere so now you can listen longer while you work!

Yep - my kind of station

You guys are really funny.

Mostly a bunch of loser wanna be's (except for Roddy, who's actually employed in the industry full-time) who can't wait to rip on a station that tries something new...even though 100% of your complaining prior to them trying something new is related to them not trying something new.

See you at the next promotion staff meeting; banner hanging 101 is the subject and y'all need instruction, step-by-step.

How do you know that... do you listen to the station 24/7?

Enough to know that they do NOT play Disco, such as YMCA and Maxine Nightingale, during at work hours.

Actually BDS is more reliable and is the industry standard.

They started Friday at 3pm with Steve Miller Band's Abracadabra. They break from 7 to midnight for Delilah, then pick up again at midnight with Sylvers' Boogie Fever. Another break for Saturday night at 7, ending with Roxette's It Must Have Been Love and picking up at midnight with Mellencamp's Jack & Diane. The next break was at 7pm tonight (Sunday) when they ended with Cars' Shake It Up. That leaves the rest of the S titles and on to the end. Do you think they will find a Z song?

One word: MEDIABASE.

I understand that WAEC-AM (860) is doing an A-Z Weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday. They'll run every preacher in their library from A-Z. And some of the preachers will even be from the disco-preacher era of the '70s.
