B&T on TedFM

I listened to Bob and Tom this morning on my drive from Dayton to Columbus (first on WTUE and then between Springfield and London switched over to TedFM). B&T gave lots of love to TedFM on the air on the top and bottom of every hour. And all weekend TedFM ran B&T promos so it sounds like they are doing pretty well with it.

This is not the TedFM I stopped listening to several months back because of the sleepy SoftAC though. This is a much more interesting mix of music. Whereas before there was about a 2-1 mix of music that grated my nerves to songs I actually like now there is a 5-1 or 6-1 mix of great songs I haven't heard in awhile to a song I don't necessarily like but I can tolerate to hear what they play after that. Much better playlist in my opinion and very few repeats. As a matter of fact, in my listening this weekend I didn't hear any repeats.

Too bad it's on a weak signal but like I said, at least I could get it west of London. I just can't get it anywhere downtown Columbus.

Edited to add: When I was getting my haircut last Friday, the stylists were sitting around talking about the switch from The Fox to The Brew (completely unprompted by or uninfluenced by my opinion) and the general consensus was that The Brew was not as good as The Fox and they all switched stations.
Edited by CMHDave on 10/03/05 08:30 PM.

B&T sounded good this morning as I left Hilliard toward the airport, lost them on 675 at the hilltop, they came back after I passed downtown. It's got to be a tune out to the average listener who was used to the Fox's better signal.

Just checked out the recent listener comments added to "Ted's Poll" at http://www.tedfm.com .

A slew of comments have appeared in the past few days -- more than they usually get in a whole month (or two).

A solid majority of the new comments praise the addition of B&T to 103.9, although there is a vocal minority that is unhappy about the change. While none of that is surprising, the thing I found interesting is that seemingly every other *favorable* comment laments Ted's pathetic signal. A lot of people point out that they can't pick up the station in their offices, especially downtown. Ahhh, "Columbus" radio...
______________

And with a 103.9 in Dayton, their signal won't be improving.

And 103.7 up near Findlay, and 104.1 down in Portsmouth ... :) Are there any others I'm missing?! Maybe they can shoot a laser-beam lobe right down 71!

That's what it might take! Ted's 60 dBu service contour map is embarrassing:

http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM273170.html

At least it includes the northern-arc suburbs, unlike CD-101. But I've frequently had trouble getting good Ted reception even within the 60 dBu area.

I listen every morning. I work in Lancaster, so reception is fine down 33 until around the Meijer on the outskirts of town. It is depressing considering the Fox was clear all the ride down!!! Maybe something will happen to get better reception!

Later,
K
