For some reason, I think of him as "the LiteRock 96.9 guy." I guess he's still on there too, right?

I agree. He is considered the "voice of AC radio" and is heard on many AC stations across the country.
Our local AC station Magic 93 in Wilkes-Barre used to have him as the main station's voiceover, but he was since replaced by a much younger guy about four years ago. John can still be heard on Magic 93 on only one spot "Here's another winner..on Magic 93!".
