B101.1 and 106.1 The Breeze: Same Song, Same Time

Though I am still following the radio nerd stuff, I finally gave up on terrestrial radio a while ago. Too many better options available including the songs I myself put on my own phone which is always in my pocket. About five minutes ago, I'm hanging out waiting for a friend to get his act together and just for gits and shiggles, I ran through the old presets on my receiver. "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" by Bryan Adams was on both B101.1 and 106.1 The Breeze. I thought, 'Oh right. Yeah, that seems about right' and turned off the stereo. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Back in the day, it wasn't unusual to have two stations that were competing with each other play the same song at the same time. It was especially true in the early days of Top 40. Very popular when The Beatles were in the charts. No radio station has an exclusive on any song. What makes stations unique is what happens BETWEEN the songs. If all you care about are certain songs, sure, program your phone. iPods have been around for 20 years. In fact the 20th anniversary will be this October.

I'm sure IHeart (106.1).. and Audacy (B101) were colluding to play the same song at the same time lol

Shows what you dont know about radio... theyre both in the realm of AC formatted station, so i dont find it unusual at all.

Happens a lot on satellite, too. SiriusXM has several AC-flavored channels that have quite a few songs in common and sometimes they wind up playing at the same time on two or even three channels.

The other thing about that particular song is it tests very poorly with men. If you're programming mainly to women, and that song comes on, the only people who will be switching stations are guys. "See-ya!"

I've seen Bryan in concert, and for the most part, he has a rocking show. Until he does either that song or Heaven. That's when the boyfriends or husbands start looking for the beer stand.

I think I've established that all I care about are the songs. What happens "between the songs" on radio stations is definitely something I've moved past. I follow the news as a hobbyist but listening to an actual radio feels crazy old fashioned to me at this point. The point of my original post is that I "turned on the radio" (I mean, even that phrase is old fashioned) on a whim and was immediately reminded of why I don't do that anymore. It literally took 30 seconds.

Blah blah and yada yada. Breathe, everyone. Literally none of this matters. lol

Then all I can say is "Buh bye." We don't program radio for people who don't listen. Your comments don't matter. lol

On this board his comments matter as much as yours do. LOL.

You can totally say buh bye. The never-ending and absolute arrogance of your responses to people on here is why I had you blocked until the most recent site upgrade. Buh bye.

I mean, coincidences do happen. Maybe less so when not top 40, but they’re amusing enough little quirks that randomly pop up.
Of course. And it was amusing. Thank you (and just about everyone else) for understanding that my post was about the irony. Nothing more, nothing less....and certainly not worth anyone getting his panties in a bunch for the millionth time. But that's clearly the reason some people come to these sites.

Thank you. He doesn't think so. It's been more-than established here that he thinks his comments matter more than those of others. Thus the arrogance and thus being blocked again. Who has time for that?

There's no arrogance to stating the truth. You hate radio? Then why post on a radio board? Lots of space on the streaming board.

The arrogance is assuming a mass medium should cater to one's personal taste.

And now, knowing that he's blocked, he continues on with the worthless drivel. I suppose "typing to see one's own words" is the equivalent of speaking to hear one's own voice. Grow up, dude. Just block me and get on with your semblance of a life.

Are you really this dense? You keep posting at me even though you know I can't see what you're saying? Seriously. What a child. I'm going to go outside now. You should try it sometime.
