Wow...
For the first time in it's existence, KQBT apparently has an afternoon jock. Some guy calling himself DJ Marco Polo. He needs a LOT of work, but you can throw away the idea of this station being a rhythmic "eD-fm". I heard a break at about 3:10pm promoting the request line, 262-1017, then a phone bit 20 minutes later. This jock not only sounded VERY young, but was WAY on top of the music, and you could barely hear the caller.
They're also giving away tickets to the Morris Day and The Time show at Isleta.
So now you have a jock, phone callers AND giveaways!
Could they be eventually hiring a full staff?
I have also noticed the music getting more uptempo. Less Peabo Bryson and Lionel Richie, and more Expose, Stevie B, Debbie Deb, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam...stuff that KKSS used to play in the late 80's and early 90's. Great move.
Now if they get better jocks, processing on the phone and street presence, they could give Hot a run for their money.
