B101 changes too?

I checked the website and the only shows listen are TC and Kristin (mornings) and Tom Kent (syndicated evenings). No Ed McMann. No Valerie Scott. No weekenders. It might be possible they decided not to give weekenders any website exposure but all these people disappearing at once spells something different in my eyes. Frankly if it's true I kinda expected weekenders there to eventually disappear given that it was odd to have few live people during the week but 4 live weekenders, but Ed and Valerie weren't even live and local. What gives? BTW HJY seems to be intact going by the website.

Is anyone over at 'HJY doing voicetracking in other markets? It is clear (no pun intended) that Clear Channel sees that 'HJY is quite a gem, but CC usually justifies giving a station a budget by using said station's employees to voicetrack in other markets. I don't see Paul and Al or Charles doing any voicetracking work, but I would imagine that Battle or Jenn might have some airtime in other cities.

Wow jenn is really cute. She's definitely got a face for TV. I hope she gets a lot more exposure in the future. I just like looking at her..lol

So how does B101 fill the time between the morning and evening shows? And if weekenders really are gone what will they run on both B101 and Coast?

People left in that building must be on anti-depressants.

Next step for Clear Channel. They will buy an ipod and put it on shuffle.

There's no jock on B101 now so it's gonna be Clear Channel repeater radio. Ed McMannequin and Valerie Scott were tracked from out of town anyway so screw them. Now they're victims of the same system they took advantage of. Buh bye. If the weekenders really are gone then I feel bad for them but at least none of them did this to move ahead in radio. It was a second job for all of them. Maybe they're just not gonna be on the website anymore but I doubt that. I think there's a better possibility there will be no weekenders at B101 or Coast. Not sure about HJY but even if there are a couple their days are probably numbered. HJY may not screw with the morning and afternoon shows but they'll cut little corners here and there.

I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that ultimately weekenders will be out EVERYWHERE. No matter the company or the station. That is just the way the business is headed. One day even WEEKDAYS will be like that. We are really seeing a sad transformation of the business right before our eyes. Well it's sad if you are involved in it. I really believe that most other people don't even care where anything originates from.

There are listeners who care where music programming originates from but they're not the crowd stations are aiming for. They're not geezers but people who grew up listening to personality radio and still want it. They don't bother with Ipods and don't want to follow you on Twitter and read your Tweets or be your Myspace friends. They just want personality radio that's local and CC Providence doesn't want to give it to them because they know it will cost too much to deliver quality radio. What happened to using websites as a tool? They're isn't a damn bit of quality local content on either the Coast or B101 websites. What happened to using social networking sites like myspace or facebook or twitter? It's all bs with radio people because ultimately they're only interested in networking with each other. I do place some of the blame on the self centered personalities too. Now who are some of these unemployed people going to network with? Other unemployed people, that's who.

Radio hasn't followed trends and given people what they want. Radio has established the trend and audiences have had no choice but to accept what they're given and now they look at it as the norm. That doesn't mean it's what they want but like many have posted here before they will keep listening anyway because this is not a competitive market. Coast will hurt the most because you can hear what they play elsewhere. B101 stands a better chance of doing fairly well because their main competition comes from stations like WJZS and COOL102, neither of which Providence listeners are prone to listen to.

Hundreds of people are now on the beach and there are no jobs. Some will luck out quickly because they'll be in the right place at the right time but they'll end up taking jobs they normally wouldn't consider taking because of the situation as it exists. The smart ones will come to the conclusion that for many, there will not be another radio job and it's time to wake up and smell the coffee and get on with life. If radio is so in your blood that you'll just stay on the beach for months and months spending your severance and figuring in six to nine months it will turn around, then you need a transfusion.

Doesn't sound like anyone is on at B101. I've heard some prerecorded breaks with no name given but that's it. Sounds like there are no more weekenders as I doubt those breaks are done locally. I even heard them coming out of a stopset right into music with no jingle or promo which is really bush league. But if nothing else there was a spot asking sponsors to call the sales manager to advertise. Now that's local. LOL

Man, B101 sounds like crap.Is this that canned/local crap I was reading about a couple of weeks ago?No localism or station id in breaks. They are better off with just playing music and jingles/liners only.
Do they have a live body in the place in case of emergenccies?

As for HJY.This is not the first time they split personalities with WHEB.To keep WHJY sounding somewhat decent why not just simulcast WHJY on WHEB and call it "94 HJY and 100.3 HEB New Englands Rock Station". and try regionalizing it rather crapping on it if it came to cutting there too..

Well, despite the fact that most of her shifts are voicetracked, I think Jenn is based out of Providence, not New Hampshire. There have been times that I have heard her bantering with Paul and Al at the end of the morning show. Moreover, Battle is based in Providence.

B101 sounds awful. It sounds like those awful satellite stations that one hears throughout the great unpopulated areas of America. Between songs, the jock refers to "your classic hits station," and then there is silence before breaking into commercial. How sad.

Huh? First, Jenn tracks WHEB from WHJY's building, so that really doesn't effect WHJY. Second, WHEB isn't going to scrap its very local Greg & The Morning Buzz (which is on 4 stations in NH).

so does anyone know if ed mcmann and vallarie scott let go by clear channel all together or are they just tracking diffrent stations now...... and does anyone know where they used to voice track from... i know it wasnt providence

Valerie Scott is still on Clear Channel's WGIR in Manchester where she calls herself Jessica. Ed is on Clear Channel's The River in Hartford. Ed is chief programming officer for http://www.pyramidradioinc.com/flash_index.html#home
I know most hated Ed's very presence in Providence but he was one of the few actual "dj" types on the air and considering what the station sounds like now I think he'll be missed. Valerie will probably go down as one of the least remembered people who ever hit the airwaves in Providence.

First, I need to appolagize for this comment I made earlier. It seems the finishing touches have not been made yet to B101 and WSNE.

The programming/music/jocks are all comming in from New York and the local station Identifiers are not yet done. The only local show on B101 is now morning drive and thats it.That is why there is 3 or 4 songs with no moniker or a jock that does not apply B101. I did not hear WSNE at all today so I can not comment.

Every single Classic Hits station owned by Clear Channel has the same thing airing on it.If Jim Croce's Bad Leroy Brown is playing on B101 it's playing on every Classic Hits station owned by Clear Channel.Same as AC stations.

Speaking of WSNE. There is absoulutly no one live on that station at all now.Not even morning drive.
Not to stick up for this move by Clear Channel, I completly understand why this was done.

Finishing touches to come or not I still assume there will be no one live and local at either station after morning drive. In saying you completely understand why this was done at Coast I assume either the HJJ simulcast is going to happen or they're going to be sold eventually.I doubt the sale.

I don't think this will just be a Clear Channel thing. In another 10 years this will just be the face of radio everywhere. It's going to end up that the chances of you getting a job on the air will be about as good as you getting your own late night television talk show. I truly feel sorry for those with radio in their blood who have no desire to do anything else. I'm afraid that there will be lots of radio geeks soon crashing on their parents couch.

There will be no simulcast of WHJJ on WSNE.
