B101 flipped this afternoon

Happy Holidays! Let's hope they take the opportunity of competition to do a better job this year!

Dear B101,

We are shocked that, what with the time of the season, and most importantly, another area station playing the same music, you would switch to holiday music 24/7.

Signed,
No one

I'm actually surprised they waited 13 days. I mean, a couple years ago, WJBR surprised B101 by flipping on a Saturday morning and the PD told the papers that he hastily flipped B101 as soon as he found out. He said they needed to "protect [their] franchise." Setting aside the fact that it was Sunny 104.5's franchise (LOL), I can't understand why they'd let a non-issue like WJBR force their hand but not a brand spankin' new station competing pretty much in B101's own back yard!

Even though last year's all-Christmas ratings were a shocker, I think it's fair to say a lot of us geeks will have our eyes on the numbers for November and December (and January)!

PS- 97.5 seems to have really stepped up their game in recent days. They're sounding really good IMHO. For the most part though, I'm still listening to my iPod! lol.

Was there a PD change somewhere in that span? I thought there was...I know there's still the consulting deal, but different people can have different philosophies. Heck, even the same person might look back in hindsigt and think they want to try "plan B" instead. Besides that, I didn't think WJBR went as absurdly early as Halloween, so that could be a factor. I mean, what would happen if a station stunted by going on October 1? Maybe there's just a line where they (and their research) says there's a point of diminishing return. Could be a number of different things at work, really.

I believe WJBR is still AC. WFPG vs. WOBM?
In the Leihigh vally, is WBEB consider WLEV as anything? I'd think not, since WLEV (to my listening ear) is not an AC.
