Incase anyone was wondering, B101 says they're switching to all-Christmas at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18.

I caught the switch last year and there was a several-minutes-long produced bit that introduced the format. It was a lot of holiday-inspired effects interspersed with "Let's Get It Started" by the Black Eyed Peas. It was pretty interesting but I wonder whether they'll offer up anything like that this year. They don't seem too gung-ho about the whole thing which I find odd, considering they got something like an 8 share out of it last time.

BTW: I heard "Santa Baby" by Madonna on Sunny this morning. Thankfully, they are slowly opening things up over there.

An 8 share is an 8 share. They always get an 8 share. And last year they were clearly not gung-ho about Christmas because they had to back into it when Sunny went all in blind. 101 just has to be the second best at everything. Wonder what sweepers/formats they'll borrow from who next?

Much as I hate all-Christmas, kicking Sunny's behind wouldn't seem to make them second best. They've outlasted all other AC competitors--softer, harder, whatever....how is that second best?

Not that 101.1 IS the second best but they sure do try to be. If they happen to be #1 by accident, they could be #3 by accident in the next book. I just don't like hearing recycled sweepers and formats resurfacing at the B even if it means they get to be #1 again.

I'm not extoling Sunny either. Their frequent "original holiday station" sweeper will serve to remind us that while they might not be the best Christmas station around, at least they came up with the idea, or at least they used Halloween weekend as their launch instead of waiting until a more appropriate time.

What's the situation with Delilah? I don't think she begins playing Christmas music then.<P ID="signature">______________

So you're saying that Sunny deserves CREDIT for being the first station to play Christmas music. I think nowadays the last station to play it is the one who deserves the praise.

Actually..some one I know that works at a station that carries Delilah told me that she is running two feeds now...regular music...and Christmas music. As soon as B flips on the 18th, a Christmas Delilah show will be there for the taking..
