B101/YES.com reportedly playing punk metal?

Today, as I was checking YES.com playlist for B101, it listed F**ked Up - Days of Last played at 12:08pm. I was very shocked when I found out that they were eventually playing that song, according to the music log website. I know B101 does not stream online anymore, but I really hope that this was a glitch from YES.com and B101 did not exactly played the song, since it is a punk rock nature and contains vulgar language, hence the word "F***ed Up.". However, if this is true and the song played on the same hour was uncensored, I wonder what type of impact would B101 will take. Fortunately, none of the AC stations in my region have the band as part of their regular playlists.

B101 is supposedly to be a safe, office-friendly station everyone listens to because it is the top-rated station in the Philadelphia area. If they started adding rap or heavy metal songs, my gut instinct is that the ratings would suffer quite dearly and everyone will have to start tuning out the station. Maybe some of their listeners will be flocking over to either WOGL or who knows?

Again, I hope this is just an error from YES.com. The songs they listed on the website is accurate as they played on the radio stations nationwide.

LOL - Captain Overreaction: B101 did not play uncensored punk metal. Yes.com, in most cases, works off of a tuner hooked up to a computer somewhere. Maybe it picked up someone's iPod modulator or a satellite radio modulator or who knows what.

B101 did not play uncensored punk metal. hahaha....

I looked at www.yes.com, www.mediabasemusic.com & the WBEB "just played" link (http://www.b101radio.com/music/justplayed.asp) & they all indicate a gap from about 12:03pm-12:08pm on Sat. 9/5/09 (missed song? spot break? station promo announcement? other?). You'll notice that on yes.com the "Days Of Last" song at 12:08pm is immediately followed by another listing at 12:08pm for Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff".

I've found when listening to any station for an hour or two & following along on yes.com or mediabasemusic.com that some songs are missed entirely & occasionally misidentified. I wouldn't put full trust in any of these radio station song tracking services available on the web. From what I've heard, the tracking systems used by Nielsen/BDS (by Billboard) & Mediabase (by the late, lamented Radio & Records before Billboard acquired them) and are furnished directly to the trade magazines & radio stations are much more accurate than what's available to the public.

You will recall that when WFKB dropped its music format and reverted to all-religious, I saw selections on the WFKB log on Yes.com from the likes of Luther Vandross. Turns out Yes.com was detecting the signal of WBLS in New York, which, like WFKB, is also on 107.5.

Did you check YES.com for WWDC at the same time? I bet DC101 was really the station playing punk metal.
