B101's website.....

Is WHJY and B-101 switching frequencies? That would be cool just for a change of pace. Somehow I doubt that is what it means. But that's the conclusion that I'm coming to based on what you said in your post.
 
No frequency switch. Just some stupid new promotional idea that involves people being "one" with the music. Sounds like a pretty good station is about to get f*&ked up yet again.
 
Actually a frequency switch would be dumb. There'd be no point in it unless both stations were changing formats. Everybody associates HJY with 94 & WWBB with 101. If you look at that B94 logo you can see B93 shaded out. They want listeners to share concert experiences with them too.
 
I just went to the website. Now it says B-91 is coming. What kind of F'd up marketing idea is this. If I can be Donald Trump for a second......

"This idea is poorly executed. It's confusing. Nobody knows what the hell it means. Nobody is gaining anything from it. It just seems like a bad idea. Back to the boardroom for the B101 marketing department where someone will be fired.
 
If you look at the Fcc website they were all spun -off some how. Now today itsays B101 today B91 tommarrow or whatever.

Youve got me and Im totally lost on this one.
 
It was B94 yesterday, today it is B91....the title of the banner is "B1 with the music" anyone thinking it is counting down!?! No brain surgeon over here; but I think Forrest Gump could have gotten that one!
 
I don't understand the whole counting down thing. Yes they are counting down...... but WHY? What the hell is the whole point? Isn't this a little to much to go through to play up a new slogan? A slogan which isn't even all that good to begin with. It already says B1 with the music. So what's with the changing numbers thing if the new slogan is already revealed right there in black and white? The execution of this idea is just plain confusing and the whole idea is dumb.
 
Did you click on the banner to see what they are doing? They are adding their on line component to what they are playing on air...I think that it is actually a good compliment to each other....instead of just the "now playing" part, there is actually going to be more content with it
 
I finally clicked on it and understand a little better what they are going for. But now I have a gripe with the design on the website. #1. It gives no indication anywhere to click there for more information. #2. The counting down thing seems just as meaningless now as it did before. They are adding more content, video on demand, itunes access etc.... That's Great! But why in Gods name are they counting down in such a way as to confuse people? Right now it says B91 is coming. Who the F cares? B91 is meaningless. People see that and wonder what the hell B91 is. Please don't tell me they are going to count down every single freaking number. Their poor audience will be totally lost by the time they reach 1.

I don't like the way this is being done. I don't like it at all.
 
Sounds like an elaborate way to get music feedback on the website and involve the listeners more. A lot of the closeness to the listener is gone from B101. One good way to get involvement would be to hire someone to actually sit in the studio middays.
 
Skynet...Thank God the weather is getting better because you will be able to get out and get some fresh air and not worry about what B is doing on their website.
Just because you don't "get it" doesn't mean there core listeners don't.
As far as instructions, once I'm on a site and I see my cursor change to the hand image, I know to click on it to hyperlink....but that is just me, I seem to pick up on these things.
As someone sitting on the sidelines, it appears all you like to do is gripe...which is fine because this is America and we have the freedom to be able to do this; but the act is tired...because you aren't actively in the business (and for the record, neither am I) and seem very put off that you aren't. I simply can't remember the last positive thing I saw you write.
Realize that the radio "You grew up on" has changed over the last 10-15 years, just as it did the 10-15 years before that and the 10-15 yrs before that...etc, etc, etc.
It isn't going back to the way it was...I have realized that, I really can't tell if you do
 
This isn't about me. This is about the crappy promotion on B-101. Please don't be another person who turns the focus on me. Then the Bored Moderator will step in and just take the whole thread outside. It will be your fault this time wknd92. I'm talking about B-101 and that is it.
 
Hey Skynet! Maybe if they tweak B101 they'll ask you to voice it! You're just like Lafontane and Cipriano, right?
