B1023 Fdub problems?

I don't have an engineer's mind, or ear, but it sounds like they're maybe out of phase, or they lost a channel, and are in mono.

The signal sounds fine, but the audio sounds terrible.

What's wrong, Mojo?

I noticed this too when they first switched to CHR. The audio then was in mono, but with a stereo pilot. I don't live within the coverage area of the station, so I only get to check it out when I'm in the FW area. I know the last time I checked it, the audio was in stereo, so I figured they had gotten their audio fixed. Does ANYBODY have a clue what is going on over their? Also, does anybody know what box they are using for their audio processing?

I'm one of those guys that likes processing, actually probably over processed stations. I know most don't like that, but that's just me. With all this being said, if I'm in a CHR mood, I'll choose Hot 107.9 over 102.3, partly because of the processing, but also because the station is put together much better, at least in my humble opinion..... Thoughts on any of this? ;D

Also not in the market but have streamed both operations (HOT and B) and also watch Mediabase. B makes such huge jumps on their songs. An example is when they were early on Bad Romance in B rotation, spins at 60x a week, and then dropped it down to nothing because it wasn't gaining as much momentum nationally (I would guess that was why? Not sure)

They also shift their focus alot. Some weeks, you'll notice a spike in the pop songs, the next, there's a ton of Rhythmic. No consistency.

I like B's imaging, some of it seems kinda long, but it is produced well. HOT's jocks win by a mile. Content, both on-air and online, its no contest. B sounds tracked all day and STILL is sans website.

HOT is the better station, but I believe there IS a market for a true mainstream in town. B just isn't doing a very good job of it.

Technically, they have a domain - http://www.b1023.com/ but B102.3 had to be very sub rosa about the slogan/identity change, else a competitor would snap up all the Internet domains.

I agree that the imaging on B is decent, but the audio quality is terrible. I know their CE, but he's contract, so I know he's not a bad engineer. I suspect the audio problem is due to lackluster revenue.

Well I understand that, but you mean to tell me that in, what, 4 or 5 weeks since the Power to B change, they couldn't get some content on that website??

Perhaps their DJ's aren't very interesting? :p
