Bob Perry and B103 parted company for one simple reason, his involvement with the Jack format. Even though he had nothing to do with CBS-FM flipping, it was still considered a conflict of interest. They are looking to fill his Sunday 2-6 slot, and have been trying out different people. Send T&R to Keith, he a great guy!

I'm not going to answer the first question. That's open to interpretation. I don't know what precisely was on Perry's mind. To answer your second question, YES, he actually did that on his show every time he was on the air. You just had to have been listening to have gotten the full effect.

Wow, I cant believe he would take something so inside and put it on the air, who would get it? Other than the 20 or so radio geeks that are here.
I wonder what beef he has with Sniffen, if thats true??

The bit was patterned after The Real Don Steele who ended his show with "what do we know and believe?" voice: "Tina Delgado is Alive, ALIVE!"

Both Robert W. Morgan and TRDS made reference to "Tina Delgado" and both went to their graves never telling anyone who she was...check out www.reelradio.com for airchecks of KHJ/LA.

Perry's show always included a lot of inside stuff. After Dan Ingram was let go at 'CBS-FM, he ended his shift with Ingram's closing theme. The weekend after a number of people were fired at Barnstable, he was talking to carpet cleaners on-the-air on how to remove blood stains from the lobby.

Re: What do we know and believe?

I think this is excellent radio. Seriously.

Yes, only radio fans may get the full gist of the entire joke, but the die-hards are also most apt to tune in more ofen (25% of your listeners give you 75% of your listening!) and fill out diary books. And even those who don't get it will not find it that big of a turn off to switch stations.

By comparison, think of the Simpsons. Is it a cartoon for kids? Adults? That can be argued for ages. But we all know there are all kinds of adult things (I don't mean raunchy, I mean things only an adult would get like 70's pop culture references, references to what, say, the Beatles said about "Being bigger than Jesus" and so on) that the adults laugh about because they get the full joke and the kids laugh at too just because Homer (or whomever) is being Homer and doing something goofy again.

In this day and age of "pay it safe" radio, it's nice to see a jock do more than just liner-card "jock in a box" type radio. Good for Bob Perry.
