B106.3 and SHE 103.5 Observations

1. I heard a legal ID for B106.3 the other day. While the ID used the new call letters, it also mentioned that B was a "CBS Radio Station." Was this an old ID? Or has the sale not completely closed?

2. Anyone notice SHE's move toward '80s pop music? Anyone think that CC is trying to capitalize on listener disgust and disappointment with Coast's move away from the '80s? I know it would never happen, but wouldn't it be great if SHE could nab Gnarly from Coast?

I think that would be awesome....sadly She is "DJ-less" so he wouldn't fit....but if I was PD, i'd do that in a heart beat and make "She" the "totally 80s station" featuring a "Totally 80s weekend" and more 80s in with 70's and 90's during the day

that and bring in the 80s freestyle and 70s disco that they took away from MIA

Miami lacks a rock station SHE 103.5 should go as a a rock format as alternative, or mainstream rock

agreed

Since 93.9 MIA went to Mainstream Hot AC and dropped the Rhythmic stuff late last year, perhaps they are trying to pick up some of the Rhythmic AC listeners at 103.5 by picking up more pop/rhythmic stuff?

I don't hear a ton of Rhythmic stuff on SHE. I am hearing more '80s Pop, however. More of what I am hearing sounds like the songs that Gnarly would play on Coast, or songs that would be typical of Coast's '80s weekends.

If this was a conscious move on CC's part, it was smart. They recognized how loyal Coast's audience was to the concept of playing '80s music.

I noticed that SHE has dropped the afternoon music marathon (103? commercial free minutes)

Don't know if they dropped the morning one, as that started at 8:00, at which time I am at work (and unable to hear the radio).

they are definitely bragging about playing more 80s music. i've heard 867-5309 three times in the past two days, and i don't listen all the time. guess they think they can fill the hole that coast created by ditching the 80s music.

She--might stand a chance if they pick up where Coast left off with the 80s. Even Magic should consider this move. I doubt She will last much longer unless they can get into the top 10 by spring.

It is interesting that CC owns two Rock-based stations in a market that is not very Rock friendly. SHE, on the other hand, has Heritage - at least its name. I don't think CC will give up on it that quickly.
