I just heard the news that WTZN's (formerly WBZZ) "B94" is back in Pittsburgh doing top 40, but what about the Hudson Valley?
Let me explain something. Since I was critical of this format "The Wolf" at 94.3 (along with and 97.3) as Hotelpaper mentioned, it is a waste. The station is still having competition from WRWD which is another country station in that market. Since Brandy Hunter, Buzz Stevens and Beth Cristy are still there, they're doing just fine. I remember Beth Cristy from the WCZX where she was doing oldies. It was a great station to hear country music along with contemporary country, but they were doing a little bit okay, but not for long. It also has Yankees are on 94.3 only, country music on 97.3 and on the webstream. The Yankees are still in the playoffs, but they're simulcasting from WCBS-AM with John Sterling and Susan Waldman. I'm not really sure how long is the Yankees game last on 94.3? You'll find out after the playoffs like the ALCS and the World Series. I remember the World Series when it was on 94.3 when it was simulcasting not from WCBS-AM, it was from ESPN Radio.
Here is my prediction for 94.3 in the near future. I know that the WBPM hasn't been on 94.3 for about 3 years now, and then a year later 92.9 has the WBPM calls after they replaced the WRKW calls when it was formerly "92.9 Rock" and it became "Cool 92.9" for 3 years playing oldies, but now it became "Classic Hits 92.9" where they are still using the WBPM calls and it is never coming back.
94.3 is still using the WKXP calls, I don't like the call letters at all at 94.3, but I still love the WBPM calls when it was on 94.3 for such a long time, but it time to change. I guess the Hudson Valley hasn't been running top 40/CHR format for about six years now when it was "B94" in the Hudson Valley was a great station.
Now that the other "B94" is back in Pittsburgh, PA under WTZN, are they going to bring "B94" back to the Hudson Valley under the resurrecting WBPM calls at 94.3? I don't like the way 92.9 using the WBPM calls, I hope it should go back to 94.3 in the near future.
Let hope!
