Not long ago i was visitng New York City for almost 2 weeks. I found good radio stations there. 106.7 Lite FM a Clear Channel station was refreshing to listen to after they left the Christmas format, they had a great balance of 60s 70s 80s 90s and today's lite songs and few commercials. B95.5 here in Albany New York should be this way too but they are not. On 95.5 here they have way too many commercials which is very annoying and not enough 60s lite songs like the one in New York. If Clear Channel wanted to take over a station here in Albany that should be the one to set straight like 106.7 in New York is and would still be #1. I also tuned into 98.7 Kiss fm Classic Soul & Todays R&B which was not bad and it's surprising we don't have one of these stations in our market by Emmis or someone else. 103.5 KTU - The Beat Of New York a great dance station playing classic disco hits from the 70s on up to now with dance plus some late 60s motown and soul cuts mixed in and Clear Channel should have a station with the same exact format as KTU here too in Albany. Q104.3 the Classic Rock station was much better than PYX 106 something Clear Channel should make similar to Q104.3 since they are better. Infinity's Mix 102.7 was great too, i wish they would stream for free online but the station sounds really good for the ratings to be so low for them it is odd, Infinity should come and put one here too and have a division for Albany. and last but not least i tuned to 101.1 Jack-FM which i enjoyed along with the other stations i mentioned and it would be nice if one day in 06 we got a sparknet Jack-FM here made the same way as 101.1 in New York. In Conclusion Albany New York's radio market is not where it should be right now. We have more rock station's than anything. we have WTRY the oldies station who needs to get their act together and start bringing us more variety of oldies plus live djs during the day. Magic 100.9 WKLI should flip to oldies 50's to the 80s with no big band, jazz or lite fm music and start competing with WTRY already, WKLI has great pontential to still beat them in ratings and grab all their listeners, they have the WCBS-FM "Do It Again" Jams Jingles which is a+++, and Ziggy Pelzer which is a super a++++, great pd, good djs too, oldies would still be good for them. 2 country stations competing, several different types of rock stations here which is no good, some of those should be used for formats we need here like either classic dance or ktu's format rhythmic top 40 with the classic disco from 70s and 80s, a classic soul & todays r&b station, maybe a Jack-FM but not enough support for one, a better Hip Hop & R&B station, A Better Lite FM maybe by Clear Channel this time. the GM's here in Albany New York should have a station here for everyone, let's not forget there is a lot of people from New York here now that would be in favor of the formats i just mentioned.
