B95... HD2 feed on analog?

Occasionally I will tune into a weak B95 at home. I caught the end of an oldies tune. About 45 seconds later I heard a '95.5 HD-2 True Oldies' liner. I don't normally tune in around this time... but I have never heard them pipe their HD feed over the analog signal before. Is this a normal thing?

Are you referring to WYJB 95.5 in Albany?WYJB dosen't have any HD signals. What you were actually hearing was more than likely 95.5 WPLJ in NYC, providing you have an HD radio. Their HD-2 signal is Scott Shannon's True Oldies, If you listen to their Top Hour ID, you'll hear WPLJ HD-2 New York. 1240 WVKZ has market exclusivity here in Albany.

If you don't havd an HD radio, and it was fading in and out, it was probably skip from another station on 95.5 somewhere. With HD you either get a continuous signal or none, no fade outs.

This is not an HD radio... It's a crappy $20 target boom box. I just turned it on again and heard a True Oldies 95.5 NY/NJ/CT liner. I'm not making this crap up. I'm in northern Dutchess County. The listen live feed from the WPLJ website is something completely different. I'm stumped.

Just recorded a sound clip in between 2 songs... "The is 95.5 HD-2 Playing more songs with real variety the True oldies Channel". You can pick up on some of the static as well...

It's coming from somewhere in the Hudson Valley. Broadcasting on 3 frequencies... Must be a WPLJ HD-2 feed... Now it makes sense... My analog dial is apparently on 95.7.

WPLJ HD-2's "True Oldies Channel" is carried on the Poughkeepsie translator at 95.7. It's also on a translator out of Chester (Orange County) at 94.1 which is only 10 watts, but gets out real well due to being about 930 feet above average terrain.
