B96 deejay charged in stabbing

A late-night disc jockey for Chicago dance music station "B96" has been charged with stabbing a man in her South Loop residence, Chicago police said.
Michelle "Candi" Gomez, 30, was charged with battery in what investigators called a domestic dispute, police spokeswoman Patrice Harper said.
Gomez works the overnight shift at WBBM-FM 96.3, better known as B96, according to the "Killer Bee's" Web site.
Police were called to Gomez' home around 3:50 a.m. Saturday, police spokeswoman Laura West said. Gomez told officers she stabbed the man, an acquaintance, after he struck her, West said.
The disc jockey has continued with her regular shifts, and station officials said her job was not in danger.
"She has been a very good employee, and she still has her side of the story to tell," said B96 Program Director Todd Cavanah. "I can't think of a reason, from what I know, that we would take any action toward her."
The victim was not identified. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition with a stab wound to his right shoulder, police said.
Gomez is free on bond pending a Sept. 8 court date, according to court records>>
