B98.5! B98.5! B98.5!

omg it's the B98.5FM 98 at 9! I heard there's a special B98.5 FM music computer ... everyday they run special B98.5 FM music computer program and a B98.5 98 at 9 music specialist reviews it to ensure today's 98 at 9 will be the best ever!

This really never gets old ;D

Nothing personal. I am in no way connected with Cox. But IMHO this bashing of 98.5 is premature. Just wait things are going to get much worse. CC blew up Peach / Lite and “gave” Cox the AC market. 98.5 can sound crappy and it does not matter. THEY HAVE NO COMPETION!!! Just wait until All of Atlanta's music stations sound bad. Some times stuff happens for financial reasons. If you ever worked a small market station, as I have in the past, you know that sometimes a remote or a paid program is aired that will “drive away” 90% of the listeners but dollars overrule programming.

Prediction: I HOPE I AM WRONG!!

With Atlanta’s limited FM signals this lack of completion is only going to get worse. When the talkers and sports talkers grab several of FM channels and if the performer’s tax comes, we will end up with fewer choices for music. We will have one Country station “Kicks”, one AC station “98.5”, one Rock station “96 ? I an not too sure ”, one CHR station “Q” or “Star” the loser goes sports talk, one Urban R & B, one Hip Hop or Rap station “V”, one Christian rock top 40 “Fish”, one Urban Gospel station ”Praise”, one Oldies* “106.7” and one Classic Rock station “River”. There could be a Churban or rhythm CHR and possibly an AA but I doubt it. The rest of the spectrum will be talk or sports. The remaining music stations will be “satellite” programmed most of the day (like True Oldies Channel) with only SPONCERED local breaks. It will not matter if we like it or not because that will be it for “free” radio. You will have to pay a mobile ISP or cell phone service for internet access for an internet station or pay for satellite radio.

*The Demos might make Oldies impossible but R & S will survive because Randy has been “trained” in talk at WGST.
