B98.5 Morning Announcement!

Jeff Elliot's name first came across me by a Cox source a few weeks ago, while Melissa Carter was still in her previous contract at All News 106.7. Chris Egan's thinking? Listeners who enjoyed Melissa back in the last decade are now listening to B98.5; makes sense and is the sign Egan knows what he's doing with this placement. Jeff has one of those distinct radio voices, he'll be enjoyed.

Agreed. It's a smart move, along with adding Tripp at nights who is poised I think to move into middays or afternoons in the future should the opportunity arise. And Atlanta is a far less transient city and not only is from what I'm hearing Jeff Elliot a great pick but Melissa and Tripp are some familiar voices that listeners know from Q100 and Star 94. On the other hand Caller10 has really run out of things to make fun of regarding B. They've suspended annual voting at work for the radio station voted #1 for the most music while you work. I can't believe I'm asking this but how does this affect .... Star 94?

http://www.thegavoice.com/blog/city/6540-melissa-carter-joins-b985-as-new-morning-host Interesting article from the GAVoice on this. Melissa writes for them; says she wants to "have an impromptu conversation" base on what's happening that day. While I don't doubt it will stay music-focused as a morning show, I think Egan, Carter and Elliot are trying their best to make this more of a relatable show than Kelly and Vikki were previously. I know for a fact based on their past work that Melissa and Jeff both bring a sense of "quality" and "intelligence." Expect something good.

-----"I'm very excited to be back in the sense that I can connect with listeners and give my opinions again," Carter told GA Voice today by phone. "I'm not excited about the alarm clock, but that's a necessary evil."----

Way to sell yourself Melissa to potential new listeners and talk yourself into getting up at 4am again.

From what I'm hearing, Tony Kidd hired this morning show. Apparently all major programming decisions are handled by Kidd and Steve Smith. Also heard,Eagan is not adjusting well with the big guys and is looking to return home to New England. ??

Haven't been hearing about Eagan heading back to New England, and do know for a fact that he had a pretty big hand in bringing Melissa and Jeff in. It makes sense that he wouldn't have the final say in the B98.5 product considering he's at the flagship motherlord, though he has made a huge difference on music selection which was an absolute trainwreck under Cagle Lee.

Bottom line: Chris has ushered in a new era at B98.5...ratings dominance, smart music selection, great on-air talent. Same can't be said for past Program Directors of the often-troubled station.

I doubt that's true. I've been hearing good things about Eagan, that he's really well liked in the building. I've also heard he's known Market Manager Ben Reed for a long time. And as said above, he's been B98.5's best PD in years.

"Chris"? Yesterday you couldn't even spell "Eagan".

Looking back at your past posts, it seems like you've been ridiculously mean to just about everybody! Why?!? Auto Correct, my friend. Always fixed "Eagan" to "Egan" on my iPhone! I'm sure you've had that experience before. Be respectful and be nice. And don't doubt my Atlanta radio experience either, that's never a wise thing to do, sir.

I think your sources are bad... or are giving you the wrong information. Odd that you'd take a shot right at Eagan like that. Seems like a guy who's made positive change on that station, not sure why you have an axe to grind. (Especially with misinformation)

No, no I have stated facts about one real-life troublemaker, several times, under his several aliases.

Let me get this straight: you mysteriously know the name of the behind-the-scenes 5AM editor at All News 106.7, a woman who very rarely appears on the air, but you don't notice your "auto correct" is malfunctioning until somebody else posts the proper spelling of a Cox PD's name.

At some point somebody is just going to march into your boss's office and show her all the propietary information you have
publicly revealed. I might even call over there today and do it, just for my own entertainment.

Could we get back to the topic, rather than a couple of us trying to out-troll the other? Did anyone listen this morning? Thoughts?

Planet,
I think it's pretty common knowledge who Jackie Howard is, as she was running things after Marshall left. She also used to be frequently mentioned during Michelle & Andy's shift. You also seem to think I work there or something, but as I've made pretty clear: their product sucks right now...Im not working on it.

As for what I thought of the show? It was the first day, so I couldn't really tell. But, Jeff and Melissa have some really good chemistry.
