B98.5 has posted a disclaimer on their website stating that they are required to air political ads, and that they do not endorse anyone. I have never seen this before.
I noticed B98.5 and WSB-AM are running an ad from a Democratic 527 group with a country twanged song singing about "Saxby Economics" (without mentioning Democratic Senatoral candidate Jim Martin, whom this ad is an endorsemnet for). WSB-AM has no disclaimer on their website, and the other Cox station websites have no disclaimer.
Radio stations have the right to refuse all policital ads. But if they run one, they must run them all, cannot discriminate, and charge the lowest ad rate possible (WSB-TV got into a little trouble in the 90's over this). I don't know how the 527s play in these regulations.
Also...without discussing politics itself (I know it is hard to do)...what stations are airing what in terms of political ads? This weekend and early next week could be bad on radio with political ads since the top elections (President and US Senate) are so close. This might be a good weekend to enjoy the sounds of silence.
