B98.5's "B Money Buzzer" a public safety hazard

I heard the B98.5 money buzzer yesterday...came close to driving off of the road. It was pretty startling.

Luckily, I don't listen to a loud car radio. Those who do might have a deadly accident if startled all of a sudden by a loud buzzer coming through the speakers and they drive over a cliff. Also, some older fire alarm systems use a buzzer for the alarm sound, and that could cause a false evacuation.

Since a lot of radio listening occurs in vehicles, radio companies should be careful what sounds are played over their air...because it could cause serious injury or death.

kidding right? .... drive over a cliff? false evacuation? I'm thinking this will be the funniest thing I read all day. Hey you know, it's entirely possible the next damn Faith Hill song they play could cause you to fall asleep behind the wheel too, huh? And by the way: do you keep the radio volume low when in the car so not to disturb your cell phone conversations?

I've always had this complaint when it comes to police sirens during commercials (or at the end of Rihanna's 'Shut Up and Drive'). It's a public safety nuisance.

I KNOW!!! Seriously!!! I mean just this morning I was leaving my parent's basement after a LOOOONG night of playing HALO 3 and on the way to my job at PetSmart and my Mom had it on the radio. That BUZZ came on and I almost spilled my Yoo-Hoo all over my Dungeons and Dragons Onesie!!! I mean GOLLY!! I was almost as scared as I was that one time when I was at Dragoncon and that Storm Trooper tried to take away my "Harry Potter for President" shirt!!! YIKES!

"When Contests Attack!"

She heard the cue to be caller 10... little did she know, it was tragedy that came calling...

I'm sure there wasn't a bunch of dead air, then suddenly out of the opening of the blue sky, a buzzer sounds!

You should have been expecting a buzzer or a ding, and in contesting, more than likely a buzzer.

That'd be your unpreparedness, not the public's safety! ;)

Just wondering; How many cliffs are there in Atlanta anyway?

I thought listening to B98.5 was a public safety hazard enough... :)

At first, I thought this was the best quote of the thread:

But, then I read this:

I'm only aware of one...Clear Channel keeps driving over it. ;D :D

THANK you for giving me entertainment on a VERY dull day! ;D

Thanks; I was wondering why I hadn't found the Chattahoochee River Gorge yet, or the Alpharetta Canyon or the Smyrna Palisades.

And while we're on the subject, what about those awfully annoying tests of the emergency broadcast system with those horrid little buzzers?! I mean, for goodness sakes, can't we change them to something pleasant and soothing like, say, wind chimes? I mean, let's do something to keep people CALM fer cryin' out loud. And maybe have a nice, soft little child's voice saying something like "Excuse me, sorry to interrupt the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but since incoming nukes have been spotted, you may want to think about putting a dinner plate over your head for protection."

I had to be really careful yesterday. I was on "Cliff Valley" Road. Frightening!

I had the same startling experience once while I was driving across some railroad tracks when Van Halen's "Running With The Devil" came on. The opening of that song at that moment will get you looking both ways while putting the accelerator pedal to the floor!

That reminds me: Isn't the theme song for I-285 Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55"?
