Baby First TV

It's been in the news all day. Baby First TV, a TV network for children 6-36 months launched on DirecTV today. The caviat is that after May 31, it will be $9.95 a month. I know parents are dumb enough to buy those "Baby Einstein" DVDs, but will parents be dumb enough to subscribe to this nonsense.I don't think that parents will use it for it's intended purpose of social interaction, but as the usual "keep the baby quiet" toy. Babies need social interaction. People who subscribe to Baby First are falling into a trap. The founders come from the world of... you guessed it... advertising and marketing. Babies will not benefit from this. This network is an absolute joke. For the sake of our children, I hope they go belly up pretty quickly.

Hehehe,i saw this on DTV,its the stupidist excuse to try and get $$$ i have ever heard.....DTV was sued for millions of dollars,so i guess they gotta try and extract it somehow!!!

I think the concept is a great idea, but as it was previously mentioned, many parents will use it as a babysitter tool and not as a supplimental learning tool. I'm sure there will be a few people who will pay the $9.95 for the channel, but I don't plan on it, and my kids fall right in the demo. $10/month is just too much. It should be, at most, on the tier that includes Discovery Kids, Sprout, and Boomerang.

::) Let the mommies have their Lifetime and the kids have Nickelodeon and Disney. Problem solved!

Here's an advice to all you moms out there; Tell you babies to step away from the TV. If they want to be entertained, let them watch Playhouse or Nick Jr. I won't be paying $10 a month to let them watch this crap. Forget you, DirecTV!

P. T. Barnum was right. There's one born every minute--suckers, not babies. And Baby First proves it every time some naive parent forks over the money.

Geez, anything but money-grabbing tripe such as Baby First. Any bets Animal Planet will spin off Puppy TV (although it would no doubt be better than Baby First).
