Radio Friends:
I'm new to the forum and have a question that requires the hive mind. I was in college in the early 80's in Connecticut, where on Sunday mornings I tuned in to a program called Back to Mono, I think out of one of the rock stations in Hartford. As the name implies, it played rock and roll and R&B singles from the mid-60's and back. The show introduced me to lots of music that I might not otherwise have heard. I've encountered much of this music in the intervening years, but I haven't heard the theme song again (or not knowingly anyway), which was never announced. It was the sweatiest, greasiest tenor sax playing a fabulous triplet figure. I've always assumed this was mid-50's R&B, but I suppose it could have been early 60's.
Does anyone remember this show and its theme song? If so, can you please share the artist and song? I can't tell you the number of music experts I've consulted, up to and including Little Steven, and no one seems to remember this show or, of course, its theme song.
This question has lingered for decades. Can anyone put it to rest?
Many thanks to you all,
-Dave Spelvin
