Back To The Future For 104.1

They still have the FM 104 One website up still. I wonder when they will have a new website.

Let me correct this. I found the new website. Heard it while listening to the online stream. Its www.radio1041.fm The new logo if that is it doesn't look much different from the FM 104 One, still has green background only different is it says Radio 104.1 WMRQ.

I'm glad they brought the Radio 104 moniker back.
I wonder if we'll have Radio104fest back?

I've just listened for 10 minutes, and I must say I'm pretty impressed. There's actually on-air talent and it sounds like they have Mark Driscoll for voiceovers.

I can get 104.1 very vaguely in Greenwich and only in some locations. I have to say it better. I am currently listening online. I really wish the old imaging was back, Logos as well as Harder rock songs and maybe they can see if the old DJ's would come back but I happy with what they are playing. anything is better than the CHR crap NYC throws out now. the site Radio104.com is still up as "fm 104."

We? What do you do for the station?

With mega-corporate radio self-imploding as we speak, maybe this is a sign of hope for the future of radio?

This is good for the listeners, the market and people passionate about this profession. Everyone stands a chance to win. Anyway, best of luck to 104 and the people at Red Wolf for investing in local radio.

I heard a DJ on this afternoon while driving home. His name is Fish. (Not sure of the spelling). He said the station was giving away tickets to the July Green Day Concert at the XL Center. Also I have yet to hear a proper legal ID. What I've heard at the top of the hour is:

"The Call Letters - WMRQ. The Frequency - 104.1 FM. The Station - Radio 104.1 Connecticut's Modern Rock Alternative."

Yeah. Connecticut's Modern Rock Alternative and at 6:25AM on my way to work they were playing Buffalo Soldier by Bob Marley. Yep. When I think of Modern Rock I immediately think of Bob Marley. ;D

They do indeed ID near the hour: "You're listening to the legendary Radio 104.1...WMRQ -Waterbury/Hartford/New Haven...and 104.1 HD Digital", to be exact. :)

Legendary? The station's been on the air for 2 days. And they brought back a station that was on for nearly 9 years and has been off the air for almost 6 years.

It's legendary for people who enjoyed it since day 1 back in 1995.

So from the look of things on yes.com it takes a whopping 9 hours to cycle thorugh most of their playlist? I hope they add a few more tracks to their repertoire soon!

Just sit here and look pretty! ;D
JSB doesn't do either! He does serve as WBMW/WWRX/WMRQ's production director, and he's right up there with other great Hartford production people like Rob Ray, Lee Gordon and Jay Policow.

Nobody's ever accused me of being a corporate shill. "Corporate" would never descride John Fuller. So please take as sincere these words I sent out to Red Wolf air staffers with yesterday's morning show prep:

As the "senior announcer" (translated: oldest guy) at Red Wolf, I just have to say that in 34 years of broadcasting I've never seen such a radio pressure cooker as I have witnessed here this year. Brian Ram built WMRQ from the ground up, and it sounds great (knock on wood). In all of these decades, I have never been so proud of the people who share studios with me. Take a deep breath and pat yourselves on the back!

Though I wish them the best of luck, the station sounds totally amateur at this point. Mark Driscoll is great - but not for 104. The music choices and flow are not quite right, and Fish is voice-tracked. Oh, and have you heard traffic in AM Drive? That is a treat not to be missed. Yes - let's cheer for the local guy, but let's not pretend it's great radio just because they are local.

Listen to 104, then listen to Kiss 95.7. Then we can talk about amateur sounding. Yes, different format, but same market. One is backed by a multi-million dollar conglomerate, the other is locally owned. 104 "sounds" 200% better than Kiss, or any other garbage churned out of this market by CC.

Give it a chance. It seems like nobody can win according to this board.
