So any opinions as to who the next PD will be?
What about Paul and Al's future? I don't see the station sending them packing but could they follow their PD to New Haven? Can they make the same kind of money there? Would they be as effective there? I think they do a great job but they are so ingrained in Providence and have such a handle on what this state and its people are like that I wonder if starting fresh somewhere else means it would take them years to build up the kind of fan base they have here and not sound like outsiders trying to sound like locals.
What about Charles? I doubt the guy has any patience whatsoever for management but has to deal with it if he wants to earn a living. Will he stay or will he go out of sheer exasperation? Could he be the next PD if they gave him enough freedom to program the kind of radio he'd want to program or does he know that would be like jumping from the frying pan into the fire?

No way in hell they are going to make the same type of money in market 113 that they are making in market 41...simply not going to happen.

As far as a PD, rumors I have been hearing is that CC is looking to regionalize PD's, so they could end up with someone in Boston or NY calling the shots

I don't see them considering any move but Boston, taking the money into consideration. In Boston, ZLX would probably be their only option. Possibly WAAF but we're dreaming here. I think they'll just stay. The show will lose something without Johnny and Steve but when the dust settles the listeners will stick with them. As was pointed out in another thread, where are the listeners going to go anyway? No one listens because they can't wait to hear Killer Queen again. They listen because of Paul and Al.

Market 113 or not there are people making big money in markets that size. Usually they're the only ones paid well at their stations and everyone else makes the norm for the market. Problem is Paul and Al wouldn't be worth that kind of money to another market. They'd be starting out with no heritage in the market. Even in Boston, which is not out of reach for them, they just don't have the recognition to warrant the kind of money they make. Of course in Boston a six figure salary might be a given for mornings anyway. What about syndication for those two. Clear Channel did make some kind of statement that they would syndicate their more successful shows.

Yes, there are people making big money in those size markets; but they are like Paul & Al here in Providence, been there for a number of years; but you will rarely find someone coming in new to a market (especially at this time in the industry and economic state of the country) that will get paid anywhere close to what Paul & Al are getting paid now.

As far as syndication, they would have to lose a lot of their RI centric focus, which kind of makes them who they are....ask Matty in Boston how syndication went when he tried it...

I don't know how much revenue HJY would lose if Paul and Al were to leave but I agree the audience would have nowhere else to go for this kind of show.I wonder if these morning changes are an invitation for them to consider calling it a day.
