I tend to pay more attention to trends than 1 month. When Baisden left, I think Majic listeners expected a talk show. Skip Murphy was so bad that I think they probably lost some former Baisden listeners. Last month, they made what was really a major change, going from a lot of talk to music intensive. I think Si-Man is right for the slot, and I'd like to see what happens over the next 2 months.

As far as The Game, yes, it is ugly. I can't figure out why the station has gotten no traction so far. Football season is approaching as is The Game's first birthday. If they are ever going to show anything, that will be the time to show it. If they go through football season and stay where they are, they'll need to rethink things.

I think the big story is the numbers Radio 105.7 is getting with that awful signal. At least they have a format on it that makes some sense with its northern coverage. Having Wild on it made little sense.

And actually, moving 105.7's frequency right now might be a mistake, since people are still spreading the word that it's there

Radio 105.7's success strongly suggests to me that CBS wasn't programming 92.9 DaveFM properly. What a shock.

Rock 100.5's numbers are comically poor. ;D
Numbers are only slightly better than when Project was still on the air. The old crusty turds inside that building couldn't program their way out of a paper bag.

^Is there a reason Cumulus isn't putting Active Rock on 100.5? The format they're using isn't popular anywhere except small rural markets...

I don't understand Rock 100.5 Back when they were classic rock, the would tweak and change formats like every four months or so and now, they are stagnant. They need to go straight up active rock and leave the classic rock alone.

Project's ratings were 2.9, right? I can't remember but it seemed like they always were at one number and I think it was 2.9 or maybe 3.0.

Huh, Project had around a 3.0 6+ when they were around. But, yeah, they certainly couldn't program to save their lives. The fact that Cumulus is programming a station meant for a market like Macon or Savannah in Atlanta is a hilarious train wreck. IMO, Cumulus missed a huge opportunity to bring back 99x (I think TRG may have been able to stay as well). Active rock wouldn't be a bad idea either, given how The Bone did for its stick.

Would Power 96.1's ratings be better or worse than Q100's if they had an equally successful morning show like the Bert Show?

Uh, I would go for the the big "B" - Better! Elvis Duran originates in New York. I'm pretty sure (and hopeful) Atlantans know that Elvis Duran is not live and local.

I think 92.9 is stuck with Sports for the foreseeable future no matter how bad the ratings are. Especially now that they're the new home for Atlanta Hawks games.

They also just moved into a brand new studio built just for the Sports Talk format.

Rock 100.5:

---The best morning show in town
---The best team in baseball
---Company headquarters just down the street

Why do these guys continue to underperform?

When the PD went away at 92.9 DaveFM and Margot took those duties, the station's playlist went wider and swung newer and more "alternative" and the outgoing numbers show it. They were on an upswing when they went out.

My "go-to" preset is 105.7 in the car. They sound good and the playlist keeps growing. Kudos to CC and Radio 105.7 for doing what they are doing.

I personally think the bigger problem for Dave is that they never stuck with anything long enough and kept tweaking the format, plus they never played much newer music.

One month Dave would sound similar to the Jack format, the next it would migrate toward classic rock, then back to more alternative. They just never really seemed to find a consistent identity that they stuck with for more than a few months at a time.

Plus 92.9 was strictly AAA. 105.7 plays the best of both worlds - alternative and AAA. So are we saying that Q's ratings are mostly from the Bert Show and Power's ratings are from the music? We've argued in the past that it's the adult leaning CHR that is attracting listeners to Q.

I don't think anyone can honestly make their mind up on why Power is not beating the hell out of Q. Is it not leaning Rhythmic enough? Small playlist? Limited local programming? Is it The Bert Show's fault? Is Star stealing listeners? I'm keeping the tally on all the excuses.

Guys, I feel like I keep posting this over and over - Rhythmic-leaning CHRs almost never "beat the hell out of" mainstream CHRs, and especially established ones - it only happens in heavily Asian and Hispanic markets

Most listeners have no clue which CHR is Cumulus and which one is Clear Channel, and that Cumulus has centralized programming and that CC is more innovative - all they care about is that you can hear a wider variety of hits on Q100

RE: The Bert Show, it's geared towards the upper end of the demo, so asking if Power would be winning if it aired the Bert Show is meaningless IMO, since the two don't mix

RE: CBS misprogramming 92.9 Dave FM, I don't think it was so much the older vs. newer music - IMO the major difference between Radio 105.7 and Dave is that Radio focuses on well-known, familiar hits, while the PD for Dave favored random album tracks that no one had ever heard of - plus the currents were off the AAA chart rather than the Alternative chart, and I think a lot more people are more familiar with Alternative bands than they are with folkish AAA singer/songwriters

CBS definitely had the opportunity to evolve 92.9 into an Alternative station, rather than flip it to sports, and they definitely blew that decision
