Backtrax USA now on Lite Rock 105

It would appear that, as of today, long time syndicated program called Backtrax USA can now be heard on Lite Rock 105 on Saturday nights, and this appears to be the 90s version. They're playing an awful lot of songs that are not AC at all, such as "Fantastic Voyage" by Coolio. I know this show used to be on Pro-FM, but I really don't think it belongs on Lite Rock. Though I think this could be the beginning of reprogramming the whole station. I wonder what they will do for weeknights.

I sid it in the Hot 106 doomed thread and Ill say it again.Lite Rock 105 needs a new image."lite rock" is not what they are playing now. BIG 105 , ALIVE 105 , LIVE 105, SKY 105 something more up.

I could see the 80s version but not the 90s version. Doesn't make sense.
 
I agree with Kenny. "LITE ROCK" never did seem like a good name to me. The whole point of ROCK music is that "IT'S NOT LITE!". The only thing that would be a more ridiculous concept is "LITE METAL". So since I've never been a fan of the name, I am all in favor of changing it.

what would be some good names?? Maybe they want to use the lite branding but can't since clear channel has lite FM in New York etc. So they settled for lite rock.
 
The station was Lite 105 for years and years, Lite Rock is a more recent name.

It sounds like every other Lite, Lite Rock, and Soft Rock station out there, why change a 30+ year old brand?

"RI-105"--it rhymes and makes not mention to being "lite" or "rock" at all. And there's the obvious homage to 103.7 WERI "RI-104" from the early 80s.

Let's rush to change the name of one of the consistently top rated stations in the market because a few radio geeks don't agree with the branding!! ;-)

Change for the hell of it is idiotic. Lay people know what they're going to hear when they hear the name "Lite Rock 105." It doesn't have negative connotations. "Oldies 103.3" however gave the impression of old geezers. That change was necessary to try to revitalize the brand. Remind me how well that worked again?

It should also be noted that no broadcaster is branding any station using whole numbers anymore. It's fine for heritage stations that have been that way forever, but any new brand will include the full frequency.
