Backyard Broadcasting - Brian Beaver

Just switched at the start of June I believe to Fox Sports.

This is Brian Beaver himself, and there's a LOT more to this than anyone at BYB will tell you--TRUTHFULLY. You wanna know what really happened, come ask me.

I pity the fool who follows in my footsteps.

On a much happier note, I saw Dr. Wible enjoying a cone at the Yorktown McDonald's earlier this week. Didn't get to talk to him, but as I told my dauther, he was the toughest T-COM prof I ever had, and the BEST T-COM prof I ever had.

Learned a LOT from that man!

Remember the quizzes when Dr. Wible would ask students to correctly spell Schenectady? As in Schenectady, New York? Ah, good times.

I've written tens of thousands of stories over the last 30 years, for newspapers, radio and TV stations, and now the web. I won the first seven Best Radio Reporter awards ever given by AP in Indiana. I have won Murrows, etc. I have always done high quality work--I still am, and I have NEVER, let me repeat, NEVER libeled anyone at any time. PERIOD!

Indiana's libel law is the strongest in the nation. I urge all of you to review it at http://www.in.gov/judiciary/pubs/media-guide/libel.html. It provides Hoosier reporters with GREAT protections--IF their companies stand behind their employees instead of stabbing them in the Back-yard. I'm still removing the knife.

So let me sum it all up. I resigned over principles, I wasn't fired. BYB is the WORST media company I've ever worked for. Steve Lindell (Steve Larson for those of you who want to know who he really is) is a paranoid, lying, pompous ass. And while I need a new job, I couldn't be HAPPIER to no longer be working in a mouse trap with a transmitter attached to it on 29th Street.

I've had a helluva run. If I never work in a newsroom again, so be it.

Brian, even when you're mad, you are a great writer! Thank you for your service as a reporter in the region for so many years. It is a shame your talent was resented...instead of celebrated.

You would be an asset to any news department or group of stations. Trust me, people know it's not you.... :)

Thank you for the kind words, they are greatly appreciated and badly needed right now. I'm really depressed about it, and this is NOT the way I wanted to go out. But as I wrote before, if that's the way it is, so be it. It's out of my control now.

Anyone looking for someone to do quality radio journalism or sports play-by-play can contact me at (765) 212-0980, or e-mail me at [email protected]. Unfortunately, the number of Indiana radio stations still doing journalism of any kind is shrinking fast.

MANY radio stations are still pawning off crap as "news." The real loser in all of it is the AUDIENCE, which is so sadly underserved right now that it's pathetic. But I'm preaching to the choir.

You all have a great day out there!
