2. WSB letting Ludlow Porch go
3. The WGST-PLANET RADIO deal
4. 96 Rock letting The Regular Guys go
5. WSB killing the original format of 680 The FAN
6. Z-93's treatment of Moby
7. KICKS letting Moby go
8. WGST giving up its FM signal in Helen
9. WSB letting Paul Gonzalez go
10. WSB firing David Paul
11. WGST letting Freddy Mertz go
12. WSB not airing The Mike Malloy Show anymore

Also, killing the 105.7 signal in Canton.

> 1. WSB firing Bobby Harper, a legend in radio
At the time it seemed like a bad move but it hasn't hurt em.

> 2. WSB letting Ludlow Porch go
You're kidding right?

> 3. The WGST-PLANET RADIO deal
A boo-boo from which the station never recovered.

> 4. 96 Rock letting The Regular Guys go
They fixed that problem.

> 5. WSB killing the original format of 680 The FAN
Yawn....

> 6. Z-93's treatment of Moby
Yeah baby!

and Canton as noted.

This is a bad thing?

Actually, Power 99 was about as dead as dead gets before the switch. 99X aint great now (and hasnt been for a while) But 10+ years of being one of the more successful stations, not to mention the only provider of a (formerly)important format in a major market sounds like a pretty good management descision to me....

Just sayin'

I agree with this. I liked that station before it went off the air originally. I was relieved though that 790 brought in Dimino. I liked Munson and Van Note for example.

You've forgot:

15. Changing WZGC from a decent mainstream CHR to a half-assed Churban outlet in 1988.

16. Jefferson-Pilot allowing WQXI-FM's ratings to erode into the 2 share range. When they finally came around, it was too little-too late and they had to start over from scratch with Star 94.

I've got one...not hiring me. heh hehheh heh...tough crowd...

Just kidding. I would say that WKLS letting the Wake Up Crew with Chris Rude and that cast was not the best of decisions. Granted, I was just a radio fan back then and didn't know anything about Arbitron and numbers or that type of thing. I just thought it was a pretty good show.

Kicks letting Moby go was probably the biggest though. I'm still not sure what was being smoked in that meeting, but it still baffles me to this day.

Agreed.

Even bigger: WPLO AM giving up a great signal, and Eathel Holley (sp?) selling his FM.

In the long run, a good move.
> 2. WSB letting Ludlow Porch go
Sad at the time, but a good move ultimately on their part.
> 3. The WGST-PLANET RADIO deal
This one is so high on a "bad call" list in Atlanta that nothing else really
compares.
> 4. 96 Rock letting The Regular Guys go
They got what they deserved. The bad call was to look like a bunch of chumps with no backbone when they brought them back.
> 6. Z-93's treatment of Moby
I like the guy at this point (see below) but I can't say that the Z-93 scenario came as a surprise to me. I thought it was a bad move all the way 'round for everybody.
> 7. KICKS letting Moby go
Now this one, this was a bad call that I believe was made for the wrong reasons.
Hopefully it will ultimately bite them in the butt.

1. Killing 107.9:The End
2. B98.5 nixing Rebecca Stevens
3. 97-1 Jamz, enough said.
4. The Peach to Lite name change
5. Kiss 104.1 excluding new R&B
6. Kiss moves from 104.7 to 104.1, the whole sale altogether
7. Real Radio 105.3, enough said.
8. Q100 dropping the 70's music in favor of the vague "All The Hits"
9. Classic Soul 102.5 still running jockless after Si-Man BABY!!!!
10. Star 94 playing all slow music in 2000-01.
11. Mix 106.1 flipping to Country, especially since Majic went Oldies.
Edited by Cowboy on 09/15/05 04:23 AM.

Take your "boombox" and go back to the 80's where you belong.
