"Bad Day" by Daniel Powter - The Number ONE Song In The Country!

Just a few weeks after fellow Brit James Blunt scored a number one hit with "You're Beautiful", now Daniel Powter climbs up a notch to reach the Billboard Hot 100 summit as well:
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/charts/chart_display.jsp?g=Singles&f=The+Billboard+Hot+100

Every song in the Top 4 this week has been a number one hit. Notice that James Blunt's record is now certified as Double Platinum. Powter is also number one on the Pop 100 chart. Blunt and Powter hold the Top 2 positions on the Hot Digital Songs chart, and Blunt remains Top 3 on the Albums chart.

Also a non mover at number 6 is Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" (last week's number one on the Pop 100). Overall, this is one of the biggest waves of Singer/Songwriters, especially from the UK, to hit the charts.

The one lonely new entry into the Top 10 on the Hot 100 this week belongs to Bubba Sparxx Feat. the Ying Yang Twins with the catchy "Ms. New Booty".

The Pussycat Dolls "Beep" makes the Top 10 on the Pop 100 (this week's number 9)

The All American Rejects move up a big 16 spots to number 16 on the Hot 100 with "Move Along" (already #5 on the Digital songs chart, and up to #15 on the Pop 100). The song is this week's Greatest Gainer/Sales.

Breaking out of Rhythmic radio is Chamillionaire "Ridin", which almost cracks the Top 20 (up 6 to #21).

Nickleback climb up nicely from 42 to this week's 23 on "Savin Me" (Top 20 on the pop 100), with Three 6 Mafia's "Poppin My Collar" moving up big as well from 43 to 28.

Teddy Geiger's "For You I Will", which has already been ceritified Gold, is up from 44 to number 31 this week.

Moving up slowly but surely is Rhianna with "SOS", a CHR/Pop radio favorite.

Debuting inside the Top 40 are Fray with "Over My Head" (climbing from 48 to 37), and T.I. is back in the Top 40 as well with "What You Know" (this week's Greatest Gainer/Airplay).

A couple of records that have been doing well on Adult leaning CHRs are new inside the Top 50: Rob Thomas "Ever The Same" at 48, and just above him is Saving Jane's record "Girl Next Door" (Top 30 on the Pop 100).
Also nice to see Panic! At The Disco inside the Top 50 with "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" (38 on the Pop 100).

Shakira's super infectious "Hips Don't Lie" is up nicely on the Pop 100 - from 50 to this week's 36.

New at number 39 on the Hot Digital Songs chart are The Afters with "Beautiful Love".

I too originally thought that Daniel Powter was from the U.K., but he is not British. He was born and raised in British Columbia Canada.

I first heard the Daniel Powter song on a small station in northeast Wisconsin WDOR back in July of 2005. I never thought it would go anywhere. I'm amazed.<P ID="signature">______________

Thx for the correction major, my bad.

I have no idea how Billboard calculates their #1 song... but since we're on the CHR board... it is NOT the #1 song. Mary J. Blige is on all the CHR charts.

I was thinking the exact same thing about American Idol playing it during the Wednesday elimination show. We all know how big of an audience AI has. I love the song though.

"Bad Day" is the # 1 song this week on Billboard's "HOT 100", "POP 100", and "Adult TOP 40" singles charts which combine sales and airplay data using weighted mathematical formulas.

"Be Without You" is the # 1 song this week as far as actual radio airplay is concerned. It actually had nearly 20,000 spins this past week on a combined 4 radio formats (CHR-POP, CHR-RHY, Urban, and Urban A.C.).

I'm talking about the number one song in the country, not on the CHR/Pop chart (which is airplay only).
