Bad Dog comes to Columbia

Mix 93.9 WIGL has flipped to classic hits as Bad Dog 93.9. Sounds pretty good so far. Heard some Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Journey.

Aww...no more of Bob and Sheri's useless rambling?

After the flip of 94.7 to Bad Dog, 93.9 in Columbia and 95.7 in Orangeburg I wonder how long before Miller decides to simulcast.

AHEM! NONE of the above stations are "IN" Columbia, though I can hear them sometime.

WIGL simply doesn't have enough oomph to have much impact on the market... particularly with recent-vintage GM car radios. (IMHO, Delphi deserves to go bankrupt based on the crappy receivers they are making now). I digress. The buildings downtown chop WIGL into a mush of multipath.

What Inner City did with WZMJ (a Class A like WIGL) is pretty spectacular. It's loud and clear through most of the Metro. Come to think of it, when WZMJ was K-95 Rock at 95.3 from the same site, K-95 was always in the top 8 12+. Try that now.

How are we coming in these days down in the hole, Powell?

And if you think the FM section of the GM radios, the AM sections are a felony.....they are so bad!

On the ancient Technics SA-400 on a beat up set of rabbit ears I get 3/4 scale. I'm exactly 5.8 miles from the State House. Yes I did measure it carefully.

Believe it or not the Ford Philco radios that were in vehicles up to 2004 MY have excellent AM sections... My MACH system had AM Stereo... which they don't even tell you that it has. The radio in my Audi is excellent on both FM and AM. Even has a DX/Local setting!

Wow. Nice. We're trying to come up with ways to resolve the multipath issue created to the South and Southeast by the Meridian Building.

Bad Dog is a lap dog. They run these slamming liners, then go into "The End Of the Innocence" by Don Henley and "Everything I Do" by Bryan Adams. Or is this dog named Jack?

Ouch. Just judging from folks I have been talking with at much larger station groups,industry-wide there is an interest in a Rock AC format that isn't AAA or heavily classic-hits based. Maybe thats what Bad Dog is trying out.

Actually there hasn't been a Philco name for years....AND the radios are now made by Visteon...as the radio line was spun off. And the Mach system was around in 2005, don't know about 2006. I know someone that has a Mach system in their 2005 T-Bird and it has AM stereo too.

We're really off thread. Visteon is the old Philco. I forget and use the old name. Even though I am a Visteon shareholder.

Holder did not like my suggestion of boring a hole in the building. For some reason, that upset them. Of course, it is mostly a "see through" building at this point, with only a few tenants.

You mean the "Big Dog", don't you?
