Bad news for ex KVOO DJ

Shocking news from Tulsa radio...former KVOO radio disc jockey Myke Allen has been charged with possession of child pornography and child sexual abuse. Michael Allen Borror, 34, who went by the on-air name of "Myke Allen," is in the Wagoner County Jail with bail set at $100,000. Myke worked at the station on and off for many years...most recently on the 7 p.m. to midnight shift before being replaced by syndicated host Whitney Allen (no relation). Apparently the crimes occurred between August and December and involved a girl who was 8. Thoughts and prayers are with the girl and her family.

Here is a link to the actual news article in the Tulsa World.

He has been gone from KVOO/JBG for a long time. Not sure why the radio affiliation was brought up by the Tulsa World. They suck.

I bet if it was a positive story, it would have said "A local radio DJ helped save 10 children from a burning building today." No call letters or company mention.

He did a bad thing, but they should not have tied it back to any station unless he was currently employed by one. If found guilty, I hope they string him up. That is sick. Very sick!

He better not call me for bail money.

It could be argued this was the Tulsa World's way of saying, "here's somebody you may know, & how you may know him."

It could also be argued that the Tulsa World is sick of being slammed by KFAQ, especially Chris Medlock, & squealed with glee at the opportunity to tie such abhorrent behavior back to a media "enemy" (however loosely).

It could be a little bit of both. I guarantee you the 1st one is what they'll say in public...

(Waaaaaaay) back in the day, the publishing of my upcoming nuptials in The World included "Miss Steward is an employee of the local agency for the Penn-Mutual Insurance Company; Mr. Segraves is employed at a local radio station." Back then, we had the same idea: do good, get smallest print and no call letters; screw up, and it's Pearl Harbor size, front page above the fold, and calls probably in glitter. When I came back to Tulsa in 1987, John Wooley's very pro-radio writings made it seem that was all in the past. But if FAQ had folks using "slam the garbage-wrapper" as a shtick, maybe it was just a shame Myke had worked for them--other past employers, he might've gotten that small-print, back-pages mention.

Sad situation, all around.

I have never posted on here before but on this subject I thought i really needed to....If they had just used his real name maybe no one would have known who it was. He had made friends with a lot of the listeners and kept in contact with a lot through myspace. I have known Myke from the first day he started at KVOO....kept in contact after employment he was someone who I considered a great friend. Would have never in a million years thought he was capable of this. I think it was good for them to mention where he had worked, I mean wouldn't you want to know especially if you thought you were friends with the guy? I have been told from his soon to be ex wife that according to the counts he is facing he could get 25 years up to life. And she is hoping life because he gave that little girl a life sentence.....I can only imagine what they are going through. I just hope he gets what he deserves. Being a mother it makes me sick. It goes to show you never really know someone.

We always say "you never really know someone" but that's not entirely true. I believe we are just in shock when it's somebody we do know and who sure as hell knew better. I don't know if Myke has made some kind of a confession or is going before a jury. It is my understanding Myke has chosen to be sentenced at the preliminary hearing by the judge. I do not know all of the details of his offenses in this case. I do know that the D.O.C. has programs in place to help Myke while he is incarcerated. At some point Myke made a decision to commit a terrible crime. It carries with it a terrible punishment. My heart pours out to the little girl. As young as the child is, with the right kind of counseling she will go on to lead a normal life. Myke is forever branded. His family will mourn for him. I am sad too because I knew Myke during my tenure at Journal. He was a nice guy with a quick smile and I know he is capable of so much better. It is my prayer that Myke really searches his soul and takes whatever steps are necessary to change his life. If he is ever able to leave prison I hope he can be a positive example to others with these kinds of issues. As the Zoot said, sad all the way around.
