Bad news: No commercials on Wild 102.7

nd2023

Banned
I was listening to Wild 102.7 last evening for several hours, and did not hear a single commercial. There was only one spot, which was a message begging advertisers to advertise on Wild 102.7. That does not bode well for the future of the station. I think its days are numbered, and it will be unlikely to last even a year. Not because of the failure of the dance format, but because Atlantic Broadcasting is bankrupt and their stations are being liquidated.

However, its format was great! I'd say it sounded better than Party FM. I just wish Wild 102.7 played commercials.

To hear hours and hours on end of non-stop music should be good news... the fact that it's dance music is bad news. :p

No commercials (except for the one spot begging for advertisers) means no money. The signal blasts into the casinos in downtown AC, but you start hearing static by the Garden State Parkway exit on the Expressway. If there's tropo, like there is most of the summer, it's unlistenable in most places due to the Baltimore 102.7.

I hope wwac wild 102.7 don't flip, they been adding more dance throwbacks recently, and new dance tracks I hope they are here to stay. But I did notice that they are playing very few commercials. They also changed the voice imaging about a month ago. I hope they survive, the format on wild is hot. We need more dance station like wild and party 105 across the nation.

As I have noticed in the past, many stations sound "hotter" in the weeks before a format change. It's like the program director has free reign over the format since they don't care about the ratings.

I would guess that the change in imaging voices is probably the same reason that there's no commercials - no money. The imaging voice is probably an in-house/local voice, who works extra cheap...or free, depending if he/she is trying to hang out an imaging shingle...

I doubt it will flip under its current ownership. There's no point launching a new format when the station can be liquidated at any time. Wild will only stay if JVC buys it.

EDIT: Just heard a stopset with 3 spots! One was a direct response ad, one was a PSA, and one was a spot begging for advertisers. So most likely Atlantic made no money from this stopset.

I would think The Shark, even with the current owner's financial situation, makes at least some money with classic rock + Eagles football.
