Last night I was listening to Wild 102.7 and didn't hear a single commercial for hours. The only spot I heard was a promo asking for advertisers to advertise on Wild 102.7. A station that's not playing commercials is not making money, so that does not bode well for the future.
On the other hand, it's sounding pretty great musically. I like the mix of CHR and dance. It plays more dance than Party FM and almost no hip hop. But as I've noticed, many stations sound great and unconventional during their final weeks on the air, take for example Energy 92.7 playing more pure dance in its final week, or (soft AC) Sunny 104.5 playing a lot more 60s gold in its final weeks.
Atlantic Broadcasting is bankrupt due to financial mismanagement by the former CEO, not due to Wild 102.7's failure. All of its stations are being liquidated, so I presume Wild will be commercial free till it's sold since there's no incentive for a bankrupt company to increase its revenue.
Wild 102.7's stream is back up, so enjoy it while it lasts! Its signal is very strong in downtown AC, but is staticy just 5 miles away, and completely unlistenable in south Jersey if there's any tropo. Hopefully I'll be able to take a few more trips to AC and listen to Wild 102.7 on my portable HD radio in the poker rooms before it's sold.
