Bad News.....

This is by far the saddest news I have had to pass along in a number of years. My friend and yours Ray Lincoln passed away this morning. Funeral plans will be announced in the coming days.

We'll miss you Ray, Ram, Sport, and others.

I never thought there was anything that would silence Ray Lincoln...after everything he went through....I just thought he would last forever. He was one of those old radio guys that put up with this green little girl YEARS ago. He taught me a lot and never once made me feel like I was green or a girl.

Goodbye my friend, you will be missed.

"Stinkin'" Ray Lincoln was one of the first people I got to meet in person back in....1976 or 1977 (I think) at the old KLAZ (Z98 or as he used to say a lot - K-L-A-Zeeebra). He was fun and funny, and didn't talk down to me like I was some punk kid that was bothering him. He really liked what he was doing - and I was totally amazed at how he accomplished what he did with Ram, Sport and any of the other cast of characters wandering around in his head. The man was quick-witted, and the only way I can describe it is - if you headed straight for "hilarious" and hung a left, you would find him and his humor right there. One in a million, that Ray Lincoln. He's one of the people responsible for my love of all things pop radio. If I had only 1/100th of the talent that he had, that would be fine by me. I only wish that I could have kept in touch with him better. Since I received this news, my day hasn't been the same. My condolences to his family and other loved ones in his world. He definitely will be greatly missed.

I'm not supposed to be posting in here due to company rules, but for this I have to ask for some help.

I need someone who can give me any background on Ray Lincoln. A little history. I want to send something out for him, his family and fans that rememeber him. I know that if I do something for the flash back, I can pull it off without getting in to too much trouble.

From what little I have learned so far, he is one of our own. He is KLAZ Family. I saw the board from pics on KTHV of an old Centruy II board that I actually had uptil this past June. It now resides in Rockwall, TX. Regardless of the time frame or erra, he's still KLAZ family. I want to do something for him. I com from 570 KILF back in Dallas, and we lost a great legend and we did something for him as well. Rod Roddy started at The Mighty 1190 KLIF back in it's hay day. He later became the voice of The Price Is Right. He Died back in 2003 of breast cancer. Bill O'Rielly is another that started there, and we just last year 2005 said goodbye to Ron Chapman as he entered retirment. They may be in different places or companies now, but they are still KLIF family. Ray Lincoln is no different, I don't know much about him nor even knew that he was a legend being from Dallas myself, but he's still KLAZ family.

If anyone can give me some insight to his career, please email me "me at doc bryce dot com" (I'm hoping that will spoof the spiders from spamming me).

Thanks, wish me luck pulling this off.

-Doc

That's sad to hear. I got to work with him Briefly in Hot Springs years ago.
