Bad sound quality WPLJ livestream

What happend with the soundquality of the PLJ livestream? It sounds very bad at the moment. It's not so loud, it's a very soft sounding stream at the moment. And I hear a sort of facing sound on the stream. So for a 63 kpbs stream a very bad quality. Anyone els notice this?

I noticed it too. It seemed to go back and forth between being loud and and soft.

I try to email PLJ about this issue but no reply yet. Maybe you can email them also, maybe it helps?

The sound is back to normal but a little to 'flat'. A little bit more compression would be nice. Now it sounds like it's a feed directly from the controls without any soundprocessor between.

Maybe its a reflection of their over the air sound quality. As far back as the rock days, plj always sounded overly compressed. There always seemed to be a hissing sound in the background.

I have questions about compression.
Do all radio stations compress their audio? Isnt the sound quality better if they DO NOT compress the audio?

Is it just my speaker setup, or does the music only sound flat on occasion? I'm listening to it over a 5.1 Speaker system, and it's only coming out of the front three speakers, so maybe it's just my setup, but the DJ's sound fine.

For years WPLJ's mic compression was probably the most noticable on the NY dial. Back in the AOR days, every time the jocks breathed, you could hear a "wave" of compression. Now, with the advent of HD, all music is on wave files and the result is cd quality , with just the slightest audio enhancements.

Yes but the internet 'processing', if they use it sounds different as the FM processing. The FM processing is better. I would like to hear the internet stream in this quality, it's to flat now. I don't no what they are using for there FM processing yet? Omnia? Orban?
All those new type of processing have also HD outputs also for internet webstreams. Why are they don't use this output for feeding there livestream? Than they have the same processing as on FM.

Heh, you know, I don't think it's as noticeable now, but since you pointed it out, I DO remember hearing that 'Whump' sound of breath every so often.
