I have a friend who worked for Bahakel for a number of years, both in TV and at
WDOD-FM in Chattanooga a long time ago. He worked there for about 9 years before buying a station
down here in Florida.
It was probably a better company then. They seem to have left some silent radio
stations behind (WWOD 1390 Lynchburg, for one.)
Cy Bahakel passed away a couple of years ago so I'm not sure who is actually in charge
of things now.
In the 70's and 80's WBBJ in Jackson, TN was definitely low budget. The graphics on their news and some local ads looked like they came from a Commodore 64. Reruns of filmed TV shows would look like they were being shown underwater, even on what were then fairly new shows like MASH. (Bad film chain?) They're nothing fancy now, at least but they're better than they were at that time.
It's been since a long time, but I worked for Bahakel in 1993-1994, and absolutely hated it. My worst experience in the business, until I went to work for Clear Channel 6 years later.
