Little input, if you please. My wife had landed a very good job in Bakersfield and I need a change of scenery. Would you any have any suggestions where a jock with a lot of experience in several formats go knocking? More importantly, where should I stay away from?

The best place to work is KUZZ, but someone will have to die or retire before there's an opening, and then you'll be standing in line. The Buckley stations are cheap but have a reputation for treating employees well. AGM -- depends on who you talk to, but the cluster is fairly stable and locally owned. Forget about Clear Channel.

AGM -- locally owned ??? Isn't AGM American General Media -- controlled by American General Insurance -- in Texas, the 3rd or 4th largest Insurance company in the United States and own stations nationwide - like WSM and WLAC ??

No. AGM is Bakersfield brothers Tony and Rogers Brandon. If you are one of a couple of jocks they have being paid a living wage then you will like them. If you are part of the rest of the crew then you won't.

WSM and WLAC are not insurance company owned. WSM is Cumulus, and WLAC is Clear Channel. Neither has been insurance company owned for more than two decades.

AGM in Bakersfield has had several names over the years.Lagniappe being one of them.Something to do with the Brandons and their love of creole--cajun--Louisianna Bayou and things of the like.Thought that was different.

The only jocks that get paid are probably Scott Cox and Romeo and those that double under the management title.Rogers Brandon is the brother who runs the cluster in Bakersfield. He also happens to live here.I looked into employment there when I moved back but like KUZZ the whole staff seems to stick around for eons.

Still,KUZZ is the way to go if you are looking for dollars and let's face it,who isn't? Don't go the Buckley route and like a previous poster said, stay away from CC.

So, are the Brandon Brothers the same group that once owned the 1330 in Lompoc that died ?

No, that was the Dorsey family. The Brandons owned KZOZ 93.3 and KKAL 1280 IN SLO back in the mid 1980's. Sold it then repo'd it. They now own a bunch of other satations in that market as well as Z-93 and 1280.
