Bakersfield's 4 - KBDS, KISV, KLLY, KQKZ – Rhythmic Oldies

Can this market support four stations targeting the same audience.

KLLY isn’t even listed in the rated market. What’s up with that?

Ideas?

In Bakersfield, a market with a large Latino population, there are a couple of Rhythmic Contemporary stations.

The top station (after Country KUZZ) is KISV Hot 104.1. Further down in the ratings, with only a Class A signal, is KQKZ Q92.1. And the Caesar Chavez Foundation-owned 103.9 KBDS is also a Class A, licensed to Taft, California. Not great coverage of Bakersfield.

KLLY Energy 95.3 is a Mainstream Top 40. Some overlap in its playlist, but not the same. And its owner apparently doesn't subscribe to the Nieilsen ratings. That's not unusual.

You'll often find two Rhythmic Contemporary stations in a Western market, along with one Mainstream Top 40.
