Bakersfield's Kelly 95 stiffs kids and parents

Kelly 95 kept announcing over and over how great their "EGGSTRAVAGANZA" was going to be this past weekend at the KC Museum.Biggest in the country.was it ever....Biggest failure. So sad for these kids.

My wife and I brought our nephews out there and it was complete madness. No organization and no one in charge.Some of the parents were just as bad as their irritated kids(poor things!). A local tv station has now done a report.

Anyone know if this was Buckley/KLLY staff or a 3rd party promoter?
 
Ouch! That's job #1 of local radio. Ticking off 3000 people in Bakersfield...that's a significant number of P1's and potential P1's. Ipods and XM/Sirius don't do local promotions, but if you're going to screw them up, there's no reason for radio to do them either.
 
Buckley's getting a bad rap on this one, they promoted an event that was poorly executed by the people in charge, so they get the blame. Say what you will about his stations, but Steve Darnell is probably one of the best GM's in radio, and he wouldn't have half assed something like this if he was planning the event.

Uuummm? ? Planning the event or not,KLLY OWNED this on the air (that's where the wife heard it in the 1st place). When you make something sound like yours,look like yours (checkout the banner behind the "spokesperson" in the video..it reads K-L-L-Y) walk and most importantly TALK like it's yours...I'm just sayin'...

Steve Darnell may be a good GM,don't know him personally.I'm just upset for the kids.They can keep our 5 bucks.
 
The Eggstravaganza WAS a Buckley event. All their stations were involved and it was their staff that was sorely lacking. There is nothing worse than making a kid cry...on camera. And putting raffle tickets in the eggs? What does a 5 year old do with that? Another example of...let's sell as many booths and sponsors...and worry about the audience last. The Easter bunny should skip Buckley next year.
