I realize this is less of an issue these days when so few ballads are being released to radio, but for those ballads that DO hit the charts and / or for ACs mixing in slow songs from yesteryear:
What sort of limitations (if any) do you put on how frequently ballads can play in a typical hour?
Due to circumstances (somewhat) beyond my control, my playlist is currently VERY ballad-heavy... and I've been trying various separations to try to keep the station from sounding like a 45 RPM record played at 33 & 1/3 RPM.
Have the attitudes on ballad separation on the radio changed since the 70s, 80s, etc.? (I assume the answer is yes, but how was it done in "ye olden radio station?")
Thanks for all facts, history, opinion, and insight!
