In a radio interview, D-Backs CEO says at 3:45 in as they may look at OTA or hybrid for the future. He also says at 7:30 in that they will talk to OTA partners and see a lot of opportunities OTA for D-Backs that they may incorporate with MLB broadcasts. That is if they are not exclusively broadcast by the MLB and the MLB allows it.
It seems the Diamond Sports bankruptcy about to get really ugly soon. As today was the original deadline for Diamond to agree with creditors on a go-forward business plan and Diamond requested a 120 day extension to file a Chapter 11 plan, The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors and Ad Hoc First Lien Group each file separate Objections today. Also, DirecTV file a Limited Statement today. The Unsecure Creditor Committee wants the the extension shortened to no more than 50 days suggesting negotiations so far have only included the First Lien Group and that the Unsecure Creditor Committee might sue the First Lien Group. The First Lien Group meanwhile wants the extension shortened to 60 - 90 days and that negotiations with NHL and NBA be finalized before the start of the Fall season and before broadcast rights payments are due to "prevent further unnecessary leakage of cash." In other words, unprofitable NBA and NHL teams could have their contracts renegotiated or rejected before the season starts.
Meanwhile, DirecTV thinks the go-forward business plan could fall apart if it assumes "any or all MVPDs would agree to “expand carriage” when their respective existing agreements are up for renewal, especially without addressing the issue of providing immediate rate relief to MVPDs for the loss of teams from their respective RSNs resulting from the Debtors’ intentional actions."
Below are parts of the filings I think are most important.
